Welcome to Independence, Pennsylvania, a beautiful place to both live and visit on the banks of the Monogahela River. Settled in 1776 shortly after the beginnings of the Revolutionary War, Independence has been a long standing pillar of American society and ingenuity.

Located 10 Miles south of sister city Pittsburgh, Independence is a smaller city but it has a lot of heart. With our population of around 15,000 people were a place where everyone knows everybody and everyone calls you friend. Since the Revolutionary period, Independences residents and businesses have been welcoming visitors to take part in our historical city. And, with our influx of new residents, Independence continues to grow every day (In fact I would bet money that after you visit youll be dying to join us).

In an area known for its beauty and economic success, Independence is in transition away from the traditional industry of the past and into the high tech realm of tomorrow. With new industries moving in our residents have a high quality of life and worth. With the recent moving of Romero Pharmaceuticals to our fair city were even on the verge of becoming a major center for the future of medicine.

If the economic possibilities dont strike your fancy Im sure that our educational and cultural environments will take the cake. Independence is home to the world famous Independence University of Pennsylvania and also has a recently built theatre in the style of the Elizabethan era. Shopping isnt a problem either as were well stocked with several malls conveniently placed throughout our fair city. Plus, if we dont have what youre looking for, were only a short trip away from the wonderful city of Pittsburgh.

On behalf of the citizens of Independence Id like an extend to you an invitation to check us out when you have some time. Itll be an experience youll never forget.
