This was my first attempt at an idea I had of painting an "intangible"...That is, a physical representation of an emotion.
Most people don't get the meaning of this painting until I tell them.
See the crossing streaks? Some lighter, some darker, all inner-twinned...Those are the "moments of a life"...the crossing paths of all experience creating the fabric of a soul.
The bold one starting on the top right streaking toward the middle is "The Passion"...A moment of such extreme emotion it severs, and crushes the soul...hence the gushing red.
This takes on a different meaning for everyone. It could be the loss of a loved on, a broken relationship, a shitty childhood...
The idea of the painting is to identify and realise these emotional patterns and there effect. There are often more than one of these extreme emotional moments happening at once, and the "quilt of experience" could be a much closer knit. I just wanted to identify one instance.
With this explaination, I hope you can better understand what I was after.
Perhaps I should go back to painting "dogs playing poker."
