Dead Tree
Acrylic on Canvas
8x11
1989
This is the first painting I attempted after deciding to try again after all those years.  I liked the concept of having a tree look like future lumber.  Gives the sad impression lumber is all trees are good for.  I am thinking of doing variations on this idea (like "Deadtree on fire," "Deadtree gets cut down in favour of a new parking garage," and so on.)  I even had a version in mind of Deadtree as "Dyingtree" because of the curiousity and circumstances surrounding its death.  Was it the environment?  Perhaps a crime of passion?  We can only wonder.  Perhaps one day the mystery will be solved.

I've had this painting more or less available to anyone who wanted it for, jeez, since I did it.  No one has even asked for it.  I probably would have given it away!  Oh, well.  My brother and I recently painted an office area of the house (Orange) and I needed something to hang on the wall.  So I grabed it out its paperbag, found a suitable frame, and hung it up.  I suppose that is better than having it sit collecting dust in the closet.   New life for "Deadtree," so to speak.
