I love you both so much, At least you have each other for comfort. That alone gives me the strength to go on.
God saw you were getting tired
and a cure was not to be
so he put His arms around you
and whispered, "Come to Me".
With tearful eyes I watched you,
and saw you pass away.
Although I loved you dearly....
I could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest.
God broke my heart to prove to me
He only takes the best.
From the words of an Angel
"I'll walk just beyond the clouds and I'll stop and wait for you."
A Place To Rest
by Alison
God looked down on your body,
So tired from hanging on,
From a life that was overwhelming you,
And wanted back His son.
So he took away the air you breathe,
And gave you what was best,
A place to be at peace,
A final place to rest.
It seems like yesterday as I laid beside you on your bed
Thinking of how much I would miss you
As you patted my head
You were about to be an angel
And I viewed that so unfair
So many memories floated around my head as we lay there
All the way back to my childhood and sitting on your lap
You humming some sweet song to me
As I took my nap
You were so strong in that tiny body of yours
Even until the end
Were you viewing smiles of loved ones lost
Just around the bend
Suddenly all our lifetime spent together
Didn't seem that long
I, selfishly wanting you to stay
Where I felt that you belonged
Somehow you never minded those tears we both had shed
Saying good-bye that day wasn't easy for us
On that narrow bed
So many things we talked about
Oh how sweet those memories
Too soon it was time for you to go
The wind ruffling the trees
We watched you drift to sleep
One last glance you sent our way
Your soul lifting, lingering briefly
Before it slowly went away
I've thought about that day often
In much more quiet times
That one last bit of life's wisdom
You peacefully left behind
Mothers Day and holiday cards, found like some buried treasure
Neatly stacked like your memories
A Mothers simple pleasures
So like that card I sent so many years ago
I simply wish to say
I love you my wonderful Mother
And miss you every single day
