About me
So,
you are as curious as the proverbial cat to know more about me. For my Aussie
friends, you can skip this page as you have known me for yongs, so there isn't
much for you here.
Do I always look as happy and dashing as in the picture on the left? Only when I am out cycling! (tongue-in-much-cheek, of course)
Okay, here's my brief profile of myself.
I was born in Hong Kong in 1969. My family immigrated to Australia at the beginning of 1977 when I was still seven. My cradle language is Cantonese, but English is my main and functional language. If I work on learning more Chinese characters and expanding my Chinese vocabulary, I can become truly bilingual in all aspects. I can also speak Japanese.
I am an EFL teacher and in my seventh year in the profession. I have taught ESL classes in Sydney as well as EFL classes in Hong Kong and Japan. I am currently teaching English in a Japanese junior high school. If you are professionally curious about my teaching background, just click on the words "My CV".
When I am not working, I love being outdoors. Cycling and hiking are two of my favourite hobbies. Listening to classical music is another one of my favourite pastimes. Composers from the Romantic Period are my favourites, including Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Borodin, and Saint-saens. I love going to classical concerts. When I was home in Sydney, I used to subscribe to some of the concert programmes at the Opera House. Reading military history and novels are two things that I also enjoy doing in my spare time.
