Sendai Castle, Tower Gate
The original Sendai Castle was destroyed by the royalist forces after they had defeated the local Shogun supporters in the battles fought during the Meiji Restoration. All that currently exists is the base of the castle and the Tower Gate House. There are current plans to build a reconstruction of the original Sendai Castle. The pictures below are of the Sumiyagura, the Tower Gate House. It was restored in 1964.
