1. 1850 Pulaski County, Missouri Census shows in the dwelling number 385, Abraham Scaggs, Christian Turpin Bates Scaggs,the widow of Albert G Bates, with James D (should be L according to descendants and headstone), age 14, Mary J, age 10, Avarilla, age 9, William A, age 7, and Maravia Ann Scaggs, age 6/12

2. Christian Turpin was the daughter of Josiah Turpin, b: ca 1775 in Bute County NC and Elizabeth Meyers b: ca 1776. She later married Abraham Scaggs. This according to a family history submitted by Tom Turpin, gggrandson of Josiah Turpin, in "History of Pulaski County, Missour, Vol I".

3. Goodspeeds has similar information.

4. 1840 Pulaski County Census lists Albert G Bates with corresponding ages, numbers, and genders of offspring to match this information.

5. Two separate Land Grants list Albert G. Bates in this area.
