Last night my older sister and I spent five and a half hours planting flowers. Would this take all of Mark T’s energy and cost me victory in the Memorial Day 5,000. With 2,300 stairs climb yesterday I was not half way there as 2,700 remained. I returned to the park at 10:08 a.m. The temperature was 73 degrees. I saw Megan when I entered the park she is back in guest services and after changing saw the 2001 Guest Service Gal of the year Lindsey good to see her back

When it comes to stair climbing the quickest way to climb stairs is on the dragon. It also takes the most energy to climb those 94 stairs so often times I start at the Dragon because it is harder to go back when I got up to the top there was a female lifeguard who asked if my name was Mark well indeed it is how did she know. At least she told me her name was Kristen and if you want the early line prediction I predict as the summer progresses there will be plenty of long lines at any slides she may run as she certainly is very good looking. I went on the dragon a total of 5x in a row. It made the stair count 470, which is a very quick start.

Next I went over to the storm where a kid age 10 somehow got attached to me so this broke my pattern although I listened to all that he had to say about having a rough life at age 10. I was all over the place on the storm slides but seemed most to ride the abyss. I do know that I managed to ride the storm a total of 10x which made the stair count 1,110 and on any other day I would have claimed victory but all this meant was that I had 1,590 stairs to go today. I went to the Lazy River on my way I looked at the clock at it was like 11:10 a.m. so I had climbed over 1,000 stairs in about an hour.

At the Lazy River I saw Lauren who was indeed not on the wave pool today. I nearly did not recognize her in a one-piece suit but it is only temporary, as she will be switching back to a two-piece suit. She told me that she was going to the dragon next so I said I would go over there. I had to go around the river like 2.75 times before I was ready to go again. Lauren introduced to me to Jeff and to quote “He is a really cool guy” If I so choose I could put on this very website that Lauren likes Jeff but who am I to start rumors. When I did get to the dragon indeed Lauren was there and I went on it 5 more times. I went on the steep slide all day today. Lauren said her back hurts when she rides it. I told her if you ride it right you will have no pain. I say that I have ridden that steep dragon slide more than any other living person and in all those years I can say I ride it the same way and when people first see me ride they think I am going to fall off that never happens because everyone should practice safety first. I know how to ride that slide and never experience any pain.

Next, I went over to the storm and it was a scattered pattern. It was a very beautiful top of the storm on the vortex and abyss so boy did you guys get lucky today. What you did not come out and play why not? Deep River Waterpark is open from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. every single day. You need to come out and see all the sites for yourself. I got another 10 slide rides in and that made the stair count 2,220. It meant that I was 480 stairs away from winning the Memorial Day 5,000. It was now time for “Mark walks through the Park” I saw Lindsey at Guest services she told me there were lots of new people this year but Megan was not knew because she is in year number 3. The new person was Jill. I went up to the front stand and today it was staffed. Yesterday I had to offer to stamp my own hand. There was a 2002 season record in attendance set today now doesn’t that sound good? We can do better than this though so come on out. Paddles T. Otter was not coming out today. I feel they should get a Beaver as a mascot and retire Paddles T. Otter. I told Megan to suggest that and she said I should because they might listen to me. Of course I have always thought that was a Beaver anyway and have gotten people to agree with me.

Can you believe the 2001 food and beverage male of the year James has become a lead food and beverage person showing once again that this site can advance your career at Deep River Waterpark. He had the radio on his person, which was very impressive. It was better than focusing on these shirts, which you must come out and see. In your hosts opinion they are good for a laugh. I can take them or leave them and most people would agree they should leave them ASAP. Can you believe Jacqueline was a cashier at the surf side café. I did not know if she knew what she was doing. Lo and behold I was soon joined by my very own sister who was so happy she was in time for lunch.

We continued the walk around the park and went to the Hot Dogs and more and the gals in there didn’t normally work there they were from Milo’s. I asked them what they had and they did not know so I told them I do not want to order something and then be told we don’t have that so of course on the menu there was Italian beef and guess what they did not have that. One must appreciate the effort that they then went through to lift the cover off of everything and tell me exactly what they had. New this year chicken wings so come on by and give them a try. Hot dogs and more is located near the dragon.

We ended up back at the surfside café where we got to put Jackie to the test and she did her best. We had the chicken bites. They weren’t bad once they found them. It was then to the river for a while and then to the storm. I actually had my sister go on the cyclone with me and there was Lauren. I think that is where she started the day. In a surprise since my sister is one and done she went on the vortex with me 2x. I finished off the storm by going 2x more on the cyclone, which is my favorite storm ride.

It was then over to the dragon and I went on that 2x because I was ready to win the Memorial Day 5,000. It only would be twice and that made the stair count 2728 and is where somehow I lost 10 stairs as the count in my head was at 2718 but that is why when updating this site I have the calculator hour. Next, went over to my favorite ride in the whole park whitewater run. Up at the top was the guard that I know as the replacement Ashley. She always seems quite but man could she run that slide. I was so impressed and I don’t impress all that easily. My sister enjoyed watching the life guarding drills. I went on that ride 3x which made the stair count really 2,860 and then as I was walking on the bridge there was Ashley who said what’s up brother and slapped my hand. I am quite sure that I am not related to her. Anyway a few people say the look I like is just blondes and Ashley had some blonde hair going so obviously I would have never washed my hand again except for the fact that I was going on another slide ride. Once I was so close to 3,000 I could not stop myself so I went on each storm ride once which made the count 3,052 and then it was one last hurrah for time number 13 on the dragon today. The stair count was up to 3,116 and in my effort to even things out I went on the cyclone one last time thinking the stair count was 3,200 but instead it ends at 3,210 stairs added to the 2,200 I climbed yesterday makes a total of 5,410 this Memorial Day weekend and leaves me a mere 102,590 stairs away from my 108,000 stair goal this summer

It was a whole lot easier than having to climb 5,000 stairs in one day last year. The next big stair-climbing day in 2000 I lost the game as I failed to climb 4,000 stairs on the 4th of July. Last year I did manage to climb more than 4,000 stairs on the 4th of July will I go 2 for 3 or will weather, crowds and other factors combine to beat me. That’s upcoming in the meantime we will see if I can climb at least 1,000 stairs per day whenever I am at Indiana’s Premiere Waterpark Deep River Waterpark of course.

I don’t return until Saturday June 1 as it is the longest time I will be away but that’s ok Megan will be working every day so stop on by and tell her hi. Once June is here I arrived Mon, Wed and Thurs around 3:30-4:00 I am guessing and Sat and Sundays probably around 10 a.m. and when Tubin Tuesdays begin on June 11 probably around 6:00-6:30 when I will be at the waterpark every single day except for Friday if everything is made official. Deep River Waterpark is now open from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. daily so come on out and have a splashtastic time. I’ll see you there.
