I started the day off on the storm and enjoyed the numerous new signs that had been placed around the park. They really spruce up the place. That is not my opinion of the shirts worn by guest services, and food and beverage but come on out and form your opinion. It is open from 10 a.m. until 6:00 pm. Daily and beginning on Tuesday June 11, 2002 from 10 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. It is during that week if all goes according to plan Mark T. will be at the park 6 days week weather, traffic and everything else permitting. I started off on the vortex and picked up where I left off on a pattern of vortex, abyss, cyclone, cyclone, abyss, vortex, vortex, abyss, cyclone and cyclone. Its been awhile since I climbed all these stairs so we will see if I can actually once again win the Memorial Day 5,000 where during Memorial Day weekend which this year only will have 2 days I try to climb 5,000 stairs. I was up to 640 and went to the Lazy River and rested.
I had to go around the river twice to recuperate. I got to see Lauren at wave pool river who tried to convince me to go over to the wave pool but that was not going to be happening. I noticed she was not wearing a sweatshirt. I doubt I will ever enter the wave pool, as there is too much of an anguished memory, which lies there. I mean the last time in the wave pool it was at the request of The Lovely Christina and she promised me that if I went into that pool she would allow me to take her picture and instead she quit. This was in 2000 and I am still waiting for that picture. She nearly destroyed me the one and only Mark T. I had to give up my trademark yellow. Instead of a motto in life of Can’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow it became I’m just a sad lonely guy waiting to die but at least around 70 of those days might be ok. Since I do not wish to relieve the events that brought my whole world tumbling down you will not find me at the wave pool. Of course you should free to go there as often as you would like. Lauren is working tomorrow from open to close, which is great. She might not work on wave pool so she might actually see me and that works for me. I will not be there from open to close as I am building up a sun tolerance but if I was the park opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m.
Once rested up it was time to try the dragon. I began on the steep slide and then I thought I’d give the curve slide a try to see how that was. It was fine until the last few feet but at least I did not feel my back being torn up just a couple of bumps. I still prefer the steep slide but can handle going on the curved one. I did not see the Paddles T. Otter measuring you so I wonder if the height requirement is gone. I read the rule and it was not mentioned. This made the stair count 922 and meant soon I would win my 1,000 stair game so what a better ride to do that on then my favorite ride the tube slide and on it I went 2x and got the stair count to 1,010.
I next went around the river one more time before returning to the storm. This time I went on those slides a total of 8x I could not tell Grant last years stair count but now I can it was 100,000. Of course I remember Cori, well not how to spell her name but remember she has a bad heart, loved to work at the Dairy Queen and was dating a drummer in some band. She is back again I wonder if still at the Dairy Queen. The goal this year for season number eight its going to be great is 108,000. Grant is not life guarding this year so I told him to find that red whistle. I have acquired several colors but not red for some reason. It was good to see that definitely our favorite 8th year lifeguard was back in none other than Dustin. The stair count rose to 1,522
I went back to my favorite ride the tube slide and rode on that twice more making the stair count 1,610 and then it was time for Mark walks around the park. I saw Chase and crew at the Surf side café and you know between the eight people I counted there they had not sold a thing can you believe that. People you need to go up to the surf side café and by something these people are anxious to serve you. Over at oh they have some name that goes to that pizza place Kim and Kara were trying to clean some windows. Kara was going to be a lifeguard this year but then she is going to have some sort of surgery in August so now she doesn’t know what she is doing. Her goal is to be at the park everyday of the season now that is more than me although hopefully beginning the 2cnd week of June I will be there 6 days a week. I really didn’t think she could climb the 108,000 stairs that I am planning to climb but if she did I’d be impressed. She admitted she probably couldn’t. A lot of people don’t realize I am actually in pretty good physical shape.
Well she likes a lifeguard with brown hair named Bobby and that really helped me out. No one in the whole park was wearing a nametag so how am I supposed to figure that out. She asked me who Jessica K was but she would not know her, as she is not a lifeguard Jessica K is a cashier at a grocery store in the area in which I reside. Due to my experiences with the Lovely Christina I will never let her know I like her but she is the cashier I hold dear who I’ve had a crush on for over a year. It makes my day when I see Jessica K and from my near destruction caused by the Lovely Christina Jessica K finally made Mark T. ok but she will probably never ever know that
I stopped in the US 30 surf shop where if you are a season pass holder you receive 10% off on purchase of $25.00 or more. I don’t know if I can pull off a tie dye look but I am going to try we will see and there was a shirt that I knew my sister would just love to have just one maybe I will give it to her I don’t know though I love to collect t-shirts and maybe I will keep it for myself after all I am still a little Rusty. I purchased these 2 shirts and was amused that the alarm system would not go off unless you stepped in a certain area finally they unplugged it. I spent over $40 in that surf shop I wonder if I was the only sale of the day
It was now back to stair climbing. I went on the cyclone 2x and then went over to the dragon and managed to get up there 3x but it was not easy as on time number 3 I was out of breath. The stair count was up to 2020 and I thought that I might be spent for the day so I went to the Lazy river and around I went and had one last blast of energy and went on each storm ride vortex, abyss, and cyclone once and then with what little energy I had left capped off the day with 2 final rides on the tube slide. It made the stair count 2,300 and leaves me 2,700 stairs away from being victorious in the Memorial Day 5,000. Jamie told me I cam late and was leaving early but I did not want to get burned I have 6 bottles of SPF 70 sunscreen ready to go but I know early in the year I have to build up how long I can be out in the sun. I had a very nice time today as there were no lines at all and there was nice weather at least to me and how about this I was not told that they were going to close the park because I was the only one in the water. I was right Rebecca is back again just like I said she would be last year now how about that.
I left the park at 1:40 p.m. The temperature was 73 degrees. I return to Deep River Waterpark tomorrow at whatever time I feel like it. After that it is my longest time scheduled away 4 days and then I will be back on Saturday June 1, Sunday June 2, Monday June 3, Wednesday June 5, and Thursday June 6 weather and everything else allowing and then beginning Saturday June 8 join me Mark T for possibly 6 days a week. I can hardly wait. Deep River Waterpark is now open daily from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. There are 2 for 1 coupons good through tomorrow in local papers so why not clip one out and come on out to Indiana’s Premiere Waterpark Deep River Waterpark of course. I’ll see you there.
