It was 10:09 and 83 degrees when your host returned to Deep River Watepark which is located just 4 miles east of I-65 in beautiful Lake County Indiana. The park is now open from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. every day of the week and beginning on Tuesday June 11, 2002 until 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday nights. It certainly was going to be a hot day today which does not make stair climbing all that easy. Plus today I had to battle the sun. I do not yet have a tolerance so I can stay perhaps 3 hours. Today I worked quickly.

The day began at the storm and I just went in a very nice pattern beginning with the vortex. In all I rode the storm 16x in a row and that meant that I won my 1,000 stair game because you have to ride the storm 16x to get 1,024 stairs. During the weekdays you will see I do that a whole lot more. Unfortunately, I do not know everyones names as of yet but there was this lifeguard at the cyclone who has a very nice smile and that is what people like to see. She had made it down the cyclone and had forgotten her sunglasses up there and she didnt want to walk all the way back up there well it sure was hot. Since I was going up that way I got them and threw them down. Luckily I saw her later and the sunglasses were not broken. I would never attest to being the best thrower in the land.

Once I was done with the storm I went to my favorite ride whitewater fun and had fun fun fun. I went on it 2x and then went over to the body slides. First I went on the open one and on my way down I saw Tina and Jaime with the walkie talkies today they were being Fake leads. They did not think they could keep up with me as at this point it was 11 something and I had already climbed 1,156 stairs. To me it is very simple although this year so far the crowds have been less than expected and I am not getting very much rest at all. It is just up and down I go. Next I was over to the enclosed body slide and while up there were two brother and one was a little scared to go down on the body slide so of course I talked him into it. When I got down the enclosed body slide he had made it and gave me a high five and was very excited. It was great for him because no one should be afraid of slide rides

This made the stair count 1,200 and around the river I went to get some rest as I went around there was Jake and he threw something at me luckily I was able to catch it as last year I tried and tried to get his orange whistle and now to show what a stand out citizen Jake is he just gave it up although he had some teeth marks in it. I am sure my sister will be claiming it shortly as she collects whistles and now lanyards as well. It seems an odd thing to collect but then again I collect dimes with the sole purpose of giving them to my wife because she will be a perfect ten but as the days go on and on the dimes pile up as of today I should have 1,076 in my collection. The number one contender to get the dimes is The cashier I hold dear Jessica K certainly makes my day and to most peoples surprise she does not even work at Indianas Premiere Waterpark Deep River Waterpark of course.

After the river I spotted Kara at the Lemonade and Pretzel carts and she told me that a pretzel would be done in like 30 minutes. Everyone knows the pretzel cart is my favorite cart because there is nothing like a hot soft pretzel. I went to the dragon and rode each slide there once and then went over to the storm and rode each of those slides once. Then it was time for Mark walks through the Park My mission to find a yardtree. I think now I have everyone looking for this mythical yardtree. What we know so far is that Emily knows someone who has seen it but she did not see it her self. You can get a refill of the yardtree for a $1.10 but first you must obtain the yardtree. I know you want one dont you. Your intrigued but not a single one could be found. At the Surf Side Caf they didnt have one. In Captain Funs Pizza Palace I saw Kim and she had not seen a yardtree but they did have on there sign yardtree refills. I got a rootbeer while I was at the pizza palace so now I can say I bought something there.

I went to get the pretzel but it was not done and soon I would begin to fry in the hot sun. I thought if I walked around the park once more one would be done. I continued the quest for the yardtree do you think if I give them enough publicity if they actually find one they will let me have it for free? Rebecca was at Hot Dog and she had not seen the yardtree all she had heard was from Emily. Well I came to get the pretzel and well it certainly wasnt a good day as it was soft on the outside but once I bit into I could taste little shards of ice. It was absolutely terrible. At least I did not have to pay for that. I am sure it is just the beginning of the season and they will get that problem remedied. It wasnt Karas fault that it was so awful. At least some lemonades were sold. People love fresh squeezed lemonade which I think is only $1.50. Real lemons are used so make sure to come by and get you some.

As I was leaving the park I saw Erik and asked if he had seen a yardtree and he had no idea what on earth I was talking about. He certainly has gotten old but he didnt think so because there was only a year when we had to do without Erik but didnt we all miss him so? At Guest Services Megan had given out a lot of life jackets so it was busy. She also did not know what a yardtree was but should she find one she will let me know. The quest continues as I continue to search Deep River Waterpark for a yardtree. I return tomorrow weather, traffic and all other things permitting probably around 4 or so but I really dont know what time. Then on Tuesday dont forget for a mere $7.00 you can get into the park after 6:00 p.m. and stay until 9:30 p.m. because its the first of 10 Tubin Tuesdays.

I left the park at 12:57 p.m. The temperature was 88 degrees with the 1,580 stairs climbed today the stair count for 2002 moves up to 12,880 for the year. It leaves me 95,120 stairs away from my 108,000 stair goal. Remember Deep River waterpark is now open from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. daily come on out and have some splashtastic fun. Ill see you there.
