It may be the only Friday this year that I appear but we will have to see. Of course there are only 3 Fridays left in 2002 which you can enjoy Deep River Waterpark because its time to issue the warning that Deep River Waterpark will be closed from August 19-23 will reopen on August 24 and 25th and then close again from August 26-August 30. I will then open one final time in 2002 from August 31 through Labor Day Monday September 2, 2002. As you can see time is really running out as there now are only 3 weeks of weekdays left. It was 9:58 and 79 degrees when I returned today.
Since it was a Friday I did things a bit differently by starting on the body slides. First I went on the enclosed one and then the open one. I then went on my favorite ride in the whole park whitewater run. I went on that 2x. Next, I made my way to the storm. When I made my way down to the cyclone youd never guess who was working yet again. It was Charles. He says they were filming a new commercial for the waterpark. I hope he is in it since he is there every day. In all I rode on the storm rides 5x in a row and the stair count went slowly up to 496.
In order to make up ground I went to the dragon. First I went on the steep slide and then 2x I went on the curved slide. I could not get past the stand though. Had lots of fun trying. When I got back up the line was shorter to the steep slide so that is what I went on. Next I went back to the storm and now with the busloads of people there was a line for tubes. I went on the vortex and there would appear the girl who wins Mark Ts 2002 female rookie of the year award. Can you guess who wins? She asked me if I was cold I found that funny. She always seems to be happy and today she got smacked in the head with a double tube by a guy getting ready to go on the vortex but she just kept smiling.
The stair count went to 1,000 and since I decided she would be the 2002 female rookie lifeguard of the year I had to make sure she could run a slide so the line was all the way down to the last flight of stairs and I got in it and it went very quickly. Some guy in front of me was talking to a female companion telling her that her tattoos were to small. If he head one it would be big. He asked if I got one would it be big. Well I am pretty sure I can not pull off that look and did you know it South Carolina tattooing is against the law. He then asked me if I knew Jessica Alba because she had a barcode on her neck. Never heard of her to which he replied do you ever watch tv. I have seen tv and yes even watch the Simpsons on fox but could not help this guy out. Now back to the story at hand. If you can run a slide, have fun, and always be happy well then I am willing to name you the 2002 Female Lifeguard rookie of the year. Did you guess who it could be if so good for you. If you really want to know then go to Gabbin With Guards, Food and Beverage, and Other Folks the 2002 Edition with your host the one and only Mark T.
The third time up on the storm she just left and was replaced by Jake who had earlier been at the cage. He can get a little rough when taking back those tubes. The stair count went up to 1,128 and then it was time for Mark walks around the park Kara was at Chills but they were down to strawberry and lemon apparently there were no watermelon to be found. In Pizza they had yard trees hung all over the place. It did attract attention. They say 3 were sold already today. I continued on my walk in the park and saw Jason he was in the noon crew so he was getting ready to take the stand. Corey came along and I wondered when I could take her picture and she said any time I wanted now there is some cooperation. Earlier Kara had told me Corey was wearing some orange lifeguard shorts so one could not help wonder where they were and then she let me see them and that was like the highlight of my day. Well then we got to watch Misty jump in at the bottom of the cyclone and then a tube came and got her in the head but as if that was not bad enough they just kept coming. I am sure it was not fun for her but it was very entertaining to watch.
Corey said that I should bring my sister to the park more. However, we live in separate towns and she knows where to find me. Her and her brother aptly called brother do lots of things together. That is a good thing but I have gotten used to the solo act. My sister did work for me 4 days this summer. Then just this Monday both my sisters came to see if they would approve of The Dawn of a Whole New Era They went thumbs up on the cute red head that works at a local grocery store. It really surprised me but it was said by them she has very beautiful hair and she is so cute Corey was going to be at the river in a bit and along came Jimmy to see what trouble we were up to. We were making a plan for Mark T to hook up with Tina no wait that isnt what happened. I was trying to convince Corey what a great game soccer is but she still preferred football and working at the Dairy Queen. At least I havent had a peanut buster parfait this year because when I have a whole one of those on my own then it means I am really depressed. Corey had made several bracelets none in orange though and Jimmy could tell they were not professionally made.
As I continued my walk around the park I saw Tina at the wave pool with a green tube in hand what is the deal with that you can only have yellow tubes or those new see through blue tubes over there. I did not see the bandana in her hair. I like Tina but she would not be able to lure me over to the wave pool. I decided to go on the storm and went on the abyss twice and then I went on my favorite ride whitewater run that made the stair count go up to 1,300 for the day and 60,180 for the 2002 season.
I took a couple of shots of Corey at the river so hopefully they will come out and then everyone will be happy you just wont get to see the orange shorts though to bad so sad. I stopped to see Kara on my way out and she said that this was Chases last day. I am going to miss that guy even though I didnt see him much this year as he moved up from runner to cook. I left the park at 12:59 p.m. the temperature was 84 degrees. Mark Ts second annual Say Goodbye to July continues tomorrow around 10 a.m. and I still have 15 pictures left to take so hopefully people will be smiling tomorrow. There are only 3 weeks of weekdays left in the 2002 season. Dont let summer pass you by without giving Deep River Waterpark a try. Ill see you there.
