Tubin Tuesday August 6, 2002

On Corey’s bag there is a patch that reads “Mean People Suck” and while I could never possibly say such a thing I can easily agree. It was 5:38 and 73 degrees when I returned to Deep River Waterpark and what a loud Mark was yelled by Megan and Lauren. Did you know Megan’s last day is Saturday? Lauren will be there until the season but she may not be back next year as she may be off to an exclusive country club to lifeguard. Megan had what appeared to be a perhaps keychain with a little man that was wearing some sort of hat. She seemed happy to have that I do not know what it was as it seemed like some sort of toy.

I began my way by walking towards the dragon and there I saw Jason and Charles and luckily the came down my way because I can not hear to well so I rely on lip reading but if you are to far away and I have just taken off my glasses it is not an easy task. Charles who must work like everyday was the Male rookie of the year and for other awards and such you can go to Mark T’s Gabbin With Guards, Guest Services, Food and Beverage and Other Folks I made my way to the dragon and there the fun was abruptly halted because some lifeguard had to pick on me. I ride the dragon the same time every single day because I do not want to be in tremendous pain in fact tonight I personally saw 2 people get there backs cut open to the point they were bleeding on the dragon. I have ridden the dragon more than anyone so I know how to ride it but you know what makes me angry is there is a rule that you can not wear a shirt going down the dragon and I went down with a gentleman who wore a shirt down but even though that obvious isn’t allowed because you can end up getting hung on a slide nothing was said to him. Now why is that ?

Well from this guy away I had to go because he must be one of those mean people and that’s to bad. I went to the storm and started at the vortex and moved right on down the line and back. In all I rode it 13x in a row. There were virtually no lines but I did find it amusing that these girls apologized to me for taking so long to push themselves down the slide. It couldn’t have taken them more than 15 seconds and what is my hurry anyway. After that it was good to see a new lifeguard at the bottom of the dragon so that I could ride it pain free and guess what safely. It is tough for me to take directions on how to ride a slide from someone who more than likely never rode it before as opposed to someone who rode in 30 times in less than 2 hours.

You know Achilles had his heel and if you want to know the Achilles heel of Mark T it is my left foot which was previously injured by falling 2 years ago on that bridge by whitewater but usually it is ok although here at the end of the season it has some flair up probably from all the climbing I do. Today while I was at work a certain individual stepped on that left foot and well I could see that it was slightly swollen and it began to ache in pain which tells me it is time to be done. I went on the dragon 6x and then just for fun I went on my favorite ride in the whole park whitewater run and with that the stair count went up to 1,534 or 73,510 for the year which leaves me 34,490 stairs away from my 108,000 stair goal. It sure isn’t looking good but that’s ok because I’ll try again next season.

There is only one count them one Tubin Tuesday left this year and that is on August 13, 2002 so mark your calendars and come on out to Deep River Waterpark. I’ll see you there.
