Parting is such sweet sorrow but at least for all we know the sun will rise tomorrow. It was 9:57 and 82 degrees when I arrived at Deep River Waterpark. There was a small crowd on hand. I began the day at the storm and started at the vortex and worked my way back and forth. It was surprising to see Jeffrey at the vortex because normally he is at the wave pool. I rode the storm a total of 16x in a row.

Next, I went over to the dragon and the line was pretty long for the curve slide but no one wanted to go on the steep slide so step right up and that I did twice and down I went the stair count went to 1,212 and then I went to the Lazy River and there was Jake he is actually going to be here for the entire season and he was sure that today really was Emilys last day. He seemed pretty excited that she would be out of the house on Wednesday. Around the Lazy River I went and along came Tina to replace Jake I asked her what time she got off and she said 6:00 but maybe later because they always con her into working later. This is why I can not make plans with Tina otherwise obviously I would have bought her dinner. Did Tina win the 2002 Female Lifeguard of the year award you can see at 2002 Gabbin With Guards, Guest Services, Food and Beverage and Other Folks with your host the one and only Mark T

Tina said that yesterday TJ who worked at Deep River Waterpark came with a girl name Alyssa who also was a guard last year and they sought out Tina to find out if I still came to the park. For 2 more years and then I probably will be done after a decade of stair climbing. Tina asked if I was at the park yesterday I guess this wave means nothing to her. She was on the top of kiddie and waved to me. Well TJ and Alyssa did not find me but they found Tina. It wasnt Tinas last day she starts school on the 19th so she might be there all week so I told her we should hook up then.

I returned to the storm and Brittany had lost her voice. It sounded painful to me. Apparently she lost it when telling people how to ride the dragon which they are suppose to do but most people dont this year. There used to be a time when they told you how to ride it no matter what and that was a good thing. Now most of the time if you get someone to say ok go it is an accomplishment because usually it is a wave of the arms and at least on 3 separate occasions this year I basically had to figure out when to go myself. Today Brittany really could not yell at people to return tubes so she was helped out by oh what is his name after several years he worked in food and beverage and now is the smiling maintenance guy boy am I getting old I just can't remember it right now. They were standing very close together I noticed and how about that time when he climbed those 94 stairs just to bring Brittany a drink. I am not one to start rumors but it seems to me that he is at Brittanys beacon call.

The stair count went to 1,340 and then it was really time for the Final Mark walks around the park At pizza they said the business was slow because people were at church and had not made it to the park yet so that the rush would not be at noon today but at 2:00 p.m. Today would not be Kims last day and Anne was on vacation and she might be back on Monday but it was to early to tell because the schedule for Monday was not ready yet because that would be to soon. James had to open up pizza today and he left the lighter there but Kim could not give it to me to return because I might not know how it works and set someones hair on fire. On my walk I saw Amber and then probably the Cash runner of the year Amy.

I made my way to taco and Rebecca and Emily were not in there. They were in Hot Dog, which was next door, and there was a revolving door to have their picture taken and say goodbye to Emily, as she becomes a college chick. She is going to be a teacher one day and we all must hope that she does not use colored chalk. Blackboards should be black and chalk should be white unless you need to use 2 colors in which case yellow is acceptable but that is it. Ryan had to say goodbye and get his picture taken and so did Jeffrey and Rebecca was quite the shutterbug today. It was so sad but as a guy I try never to show any emotion. Emily read the Only The 2cnd Ever Lifetime Achievement Award come slide down memory lane with me Mark T as we say goodbye to Kate She said it was long but lifetime achievement awards could have their own site. You can not be brief in a lifetime achievement award and this one encompasses the past 8 years at Deep River Waterpark. It is so sad that now forever and ever until maybe next year I will never again see or hear from Emily. It took awhile to go away. It was also Karas last day. She has surgery on Thursday which I am sure is going to be ok at least she talked to Bobby the other day although I dont think they are going together to see the musical Hairspray.

While in a somber mood I went on the abyss twice more and that made the stair count 1468 for the day and 76,546 for the year. Remember this is the last week that Deep River Waterpark will be open during the week because on Monday August 19, 2002 (when Tina starts school) the park will be closed and will not reopen until Saturday August 24, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Come on out while you still can. Ill see you there.
