| Actress Sandra Dee, passed away early on February 20, 2005 at Los Robles Hospital from complications of kidney disease. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Sandra Dee was without a doubt one of the most talented and beautiful actresses of her era. She was born on April 23, 1942 in Bayonne, New Jersey. By 8 years old she was a working model, and rose to fame quickly in many successful and memorable movies of the 1950's and 1960's including "Gidget", "A Summer Place" and "Tammy & The Doctor". Sandra brought to the screen a freshness, a wholesomeness and an innocence which endeared her to everyone.
In 1960, Sandra was married to teen idol Bobby Darin, and they had one son, Dodd. Sandra's career also included recordings, magazine covers, and TV appearances. |

| Sandra Dee's real name was Alexandra Zuck. She had a difficult childhood, marred by accusations of abuse by her stepfather. A byproduct of this was that she became one of the first known anorexics. She fought the deisease throughout her life...falling to 86 pounds at one time. Throughout most of her life she was a depressive. She lost her beloved, Bobby Darin back in 1973. | Sandy turned to the bottle, and was a celebrated alcoholic Her turn around came in 1996 when her Granddaughter, Alexa was born. She now felt she had a reason to live. From that day forward her abuse of alcohol ended. She continued to have an occassional glass of wine, but she conquered the dependency. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Sandy died from compllications from kidney disease along with a case of pneumonia. It is such a shame as she seemed to finally have her life together!. | |||||||||||||||||||||
