Subaru 22B-STi

The Subaru 22B-STi is the closest thing to a rally car on the road that we are ever likely to see. It is basically a road legal replica of Colin McRae's championship winning Subaru and so it shouldn't be much slower than the real thing!! It's so fast in fact, that Britain's largest car magazing 'CAR' says the 22B-STi can beat a 300hp Porsche 911!! For example: "Porsche is everything we always said, but Subaru (22B-STi) can out pace and out corner it" and "God, I can't believe I'm saying this, but a 300bhp 911 feels slow"!!! Apparently, even the Porsche 911 Turbo (993 model) can't catch the 22B!! That probably best describes how all-out-ballistic this turbo Impreza is!!

The good news is that it costs just Nz$130,000 and that's a bargain considering it can walk away from a $300,000 Porsche Turbo!! We'll have to see however, whether it can do the same to the new (996) 911 Turbo which is rumored to produce close to 450hp!! The bad news however, is that only 400 units of this road missily were produced and most had names and deposits next to them even before Subaru officially announced the car!! Of course all have been sold now, as the order book was full within ten minutes of the launch!!
