Robinson Crusoe: Painting Time Away
That's a lot of blue bricks!
This scene depicts Robinson Crusoe painting a picture of a mini-fig on the outskirts of some deserted island. It is a rather large scene due to the approximately 8500 blue bricks used for the sea. Several special effects were used to achieve the results you see. The clouds were added by using background changing options in external software. The painted mini-fig was first constructed in MLCad, rendered using POV-Ray, altered using black and white then pencil sketch special effects, and then added to the main image. Since the paper Robinson is painting on is seen at an angle (purposely), I used distortion tools to get the painted mini-fig to look like it was at an angle. The footprints behind him are actually legs! I got individual legs and turned them upside down and stuck them in the sand. The clouds were added externally in this scene but can be added to any LEGO CAD scene (or even model) by adding some code found within the clouds folder to that pov file.
