PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE : ‘C’

DESCRIPTION : The scanner designed & fabricated is a
monochrome & sheet fed type of scanner.
We have made use of a very slow moving
printer as scanner platform whose head is
replaced by to optical fibers (used as
sensors). These optical fibers are aligned
such that all the reflected rays are captured.
In one of the fiber, optical source is
launched & the reflected rays from the
image are captured in another fiber whose
other end is connected to an optical
detector. The electrical signals from the
detector are amplified and made TTL
compatible. These signals are given to
computer. The software program first

accepts the signal and depending upon
their level (0 or 1) it assigns an appropriate
pixel intensity. This program even controls
the movement of the scanning mechanism.
