You have created a beautiful site!!! I was very touched with your story about Medicine Deer!!! I am not Apache, actually I am Cherokee/Irish, but every since I was a small child, I have loved the Apache people. I don't know where my longing comes from, or why I feel so connected with the Apache people. I didn't grow up with them and I had never met one until I was a teenager but somehow, I am connected with them. I have done my own studies on the Apache people, but I feel that there is so much for me to le rn. I feel a pull, a constant nagging in my spirit to go where the White Mountains lume. I have never been and still can't seem to find my exit there, but I will make it happen, for the pull grows stronger every day. I long to know the reason for the feel ngs and this incredible pull. I Love A People Called Apache and Long to be by their side!!!

I love your site it is awesome! I am interested in my heritage but I know so little. I am part Apache on my moms side. I am part Mohawk on my fathers side. Neither of them know anything about our native heritage. They are just not interested in it. I must know more about my ancectors fr m my Irish to Scandanavian to Apache to Mohawk. Most people in America (U.S.) today are a mixture of many cultures. This is one reason I believe we don't have interest in our past cultures. I wish we would learn more from our past.

After having read some books on the Indians struggle to preserve their way of life I see similarities with what is happening to the White people today. White people feel threatened with the changes that are taking place today. It is predicted that soon, t e combination of minorities will make up the majority of the population in the U.S. Laws are changing that we thought would never change. Just in the last twenty years things have changed alot. It must have been so for the Indians as well. I hope we adjus as well. As for me, if i had known how the world would be today, I would have chosen to live as an Indian around the time of the early 1800's. The freedom they experienced must have been something that will not ever be again.

As with all people of those nations I've have chosen only to use my Apache affilation since it is f om my Mother. I know little of my people since I have been raised in the state of New York. Grey Eagle has perfected her mediumship and is her (Real) Spiritual Guide, Men or and Teacher. I have seen her on television numorous times. She is to be seen to be believed. Ever since I was a child I have had an avid interest and respect for the American Indians. I loved the Nez Perce because of their horses. I admired the Apache because of their fighting spirit. And I liked the Shoshone and Cheyenne. As a student living in Georgia I have come to admire the Creeks and Seminoles. Cherokees are very popular here (many have Cherokee princesses in their ancestry:-)). As far as I know I have no Indian blood though I am told I look as if I might. My exhusband had Cherokee in his ancestry but he preferred to not acknowledge it. I have never had the privilege of knowing any Indian. You were indeed gifted (and still are as I gather you made and kept other Apache as friends through you association with Medicine Deer. I am a st ong Christian believer but I have always admired the spirituality of the Indian and believe that if more Christians really integrated their religion and spirituality in their daily lives there would be a hope of peace. Your tribute to Medicine Deer touch d me deeply. Though her death was awful and a real waste, at least she is mourned and loved. You mentioned incarnations. Hello from Wayne Justice, Studying the Native Americans has been a life long endeaver for me. I am dismayed at the many silent Native American tongues that were spoken on the ancient paths. They say the Lower Creek language was the most beautiful of the Native American lang ages as it was sung when spoken. The Apache language, I have read, is still of unknown origin and does not fit in with the other Native American language types. The story of Geronimo can be found in Arizona Highways and recently in Wild West, the same painting is used for both articles on the covers. The Wild West article, October 1999, is living printed proof that the history of Geronimo and the story of th Apache Native Americans is still unfolding today. I met a soldier named "Houser" and asked him if he was related to the Houser that ran with Geronimo. He said he was not, but in New Mexico, he had met the Houser that did the bust of Geronimo ("Goackla"- He who yawns). que pasa mis Apaches! you know, looking at these other comments i see many people look at us as a grade on a piece of paper...I see our people as more than that...dont get me wrong, im glad that people are being educated and not mislead...im half chirica ua and half sicilian(as you can tell by the last name) though im not full, im enough to be immensely proud of the sangre Apache ( Apache blood) no matter how much ridicule i may receive from the ignorance they speak from... I was just reading about Mangas Coloradas in a small AZ. newspaper called the TRAVELER. It states after Mangas was taken prisoner he was put under guard. He was humiliated, tortured and murdered. After being bound and placed under guard he was taken to th edge of the camp and staked spread eagle, face down up on the ground. As night fell, troopers guarding Mangas built a fire to ward off the cold. Mangas was only covered with a thin blanket. The guards apparently became bored. They began poking Mangas ith the tips of their bayonets. The great Apache leader remained stoic at this humilation. His failure to respond only caused his captors to become more sadistic. They placed their bayonets in the fire until the steel glowed red and placed the points and side of the blade on Mangas body. Mangas did not yell out, but instead took the torture in silence. Finally, one of the troopers fired his bayonet until it glowed brightly in the dark and plunged it into the chest of the Apache leader. The troops then ut the ropes that bound Mangas to the ground and shoved his body into a nearby ravine. I wonder which story is true?

I did not just "happen" upon you. I was brought here. I started off looking for an image of a ceremonial peace pipe (Cherokee) and came upon a signature book (that I normally don't sign let alone stop to read) and there you were. I decided to see who ou are. I read about your sister and all that happened and I sat here and cried. Not out of grief but the words you spoke are what touched me. Very Inspiring! Being led to write many books in-volving Native information of all kinds. Don't want to come off a dumb wasichu to the Native world. It has been a voyage home in my heart. I had already remembered 2 Native lives, 1 at Cahokia and the ot er the last days of the Natchez. Seems the memories always involve the "last days".
