DIETRICH EICHMANN (composer, piano, and electronics) was born in 1966 in Erlangen and grew up in Berlin. After studies in piano and improvisation with Alexander Von Schlippenbach he first followed studies in Musicology and Philosophy at the Freie Universitat Berlin, before he finally studied composition with Wolfgang Rihm in Karlsruhe. Between 1992 and 1999 he lived in Brussels, Belgium, where he was assistant to Frederic Rzewski at the Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Liege. His compositions have been performed by renowned international soloists and ensembles, among others by Ensemble Modern, the Symphony Orchestra of the SWR Baden-Baden and Freiburg, or the Orchestre de l Opera de Lyon. As an improvisor, he has played with musicians Wolfgang Fuchs, Garrett List, Takashi Yamane, and currently forms the Straight Trio with Lars Scherzberg and Astrid Weins. 1
