Carlos Santos (n. 1967, Lisboa, Portugal) Studied painting with Ant�nio Sena and works as a graphic designer. In 1990 started his activity in music/sound performance when with Paulo Raposo forms the project Vitriol. Interested in sound and recording technology and their live expressions, he discovered the electronic music world in the begining of the 80�s, by listening to the reference works then evolving into experimentation with a 4 track recorder, where he explored collage and juxtaposition techniques of the sound world around him. Throughout the 90�s developed a constant practice in studio and carried on into live performance, where improvisation has a important role. Nowadays he uses a �laptop� and custom-built software written in max/msp. Besides VITRIOL, he presents himself live with some improvisors, just to name a few: Ulrich Mitzlaf, Manuel Mota, Ernesto Rodrigues, Guilherme Rodrigues, Pedro Leal, Carlos Bechegas, Pedro Rebelo, Francisca Schroder, Bertrand Gauget, Fried Dahn, Jos� Oliveira, Em�dio Buchinho, Vitor Joaquim, among others.
