“Yo Aaron! What up?!” Joel greeted Aaron after
stepping inside the house. They did one of those guy hugs where you half hug
and hit them on the back and then everyone else filed in.
“Joel! Dude! You guys brought the chicks!” Aaron
spotted Roxi and Emma and gave them a seducing look, just messing around.
“Chicks?!” questioned Roxi. “You are so kind Aaron.
‘you brought the chicks!’” she mocked.
“Is there a problem with us being here?” asked Emma
with her hands on her hips.
“Not at all!” Aaron smirked and casually put his
arms around Roxi and Emma as he led everyone into the basement.
“Ahem…” Joel cleared his throat louder than
necessary as he stared at Aaron walking down the stairs. “Ummm… AHEM!”
Aaron turned around and looked at Joel. “Need a
drink or somethin’ pal? You know where the cups are.” He grinned and continued
down the stairs with his arms still slung over the girls’ shoulders.
“Actually… I want my girlfriend back.” Joel informed
him.
“Aaron’s pimpin’!” Paul remarked.
“Paul, you are such a goof!” Roxi smiled at Paul.
In the basement there were a few beanbag chairs a
bed and a blow-up couch. Aaron’s drum set was arranged in the corner. It was a
shiny red CB 5-piece drum kit.
“Dude! That’s sweet!” Benji ran over to the set to
‘inspect’ it. Watching Benji, Emma realized that she no longer liked Benji in
the way she used to. She saw him as her best friend. Not as a boyfriend
anymore. ‘Glad I don’t have to choose between him and Stephen anymore.’
She thought to herself. Now she could act normal and not worry about ‘other’
feelings for him. After Aaron had played a few beats on his drums, the group
headed back upstairs to get a drink and grab a snack.
“You guys wanna play football?” asked Aaron.
“Do I look like I want to play football, Aaron?”
Emma joked.
“Well, no… but you are going to anyway!” he informed
her as he ran over and carried her over his shoulder out the front door. “Grab
the football Benj! It’s downstairs by my bed.”
Benji went back downstairs to retrieve the football
and was happy to see things were back to normal with the group. He realized
that the way he felt for Emma was slowly fading away to the point where he saw
her as his friend, and nothing more. Of course he still thought she was hot,
but he didn’t like her in the way that he had. ‘Now things won’t feel so
awkward.’ He thought as he shut the front door behind him to join the
group. “Catch Aaron!” he threw the ball at Aaron and the game began. Emma and
Paul were on a team and Aaron and Benji were their opponents. Roxi and Joel had
decided to sit this one out and they sat together on the curb ‘cheerleading’
the other on as they played football in the street.
