After she had gotten home, Emma went in her room and was sitting on her bed. She had fallen asleep to her Smiths cd but woke up after she realized that the cd was on repeat. She woke up to Morrissey singing: I don’t know where else I can go; I know it’s over and it never really began...

The lyrics seemed to match the feelings she felt for Stephen. She knew that their ‘relationship’ was pretty much falling apart, even though they didn’t have much of one to start with. She started crying, all the emotions she was feeling were too much for her.

Her father returned around 7:00 that night and headed straight towards his room. He didn’t seem to notice that Emma was home because he figured that with it being the last day of school, she was probably hanging out with her friends.

Emma decided to take a walk around the block. She grabbed her key and headed out the front door. Phillip was too exhausted from work to notice the door shutting.

As she walked, she thought of the events of that day. ‘What was going on with Stephen? Why is this happening to me?’ She kept asking herself questions when a baseball rolled to her feet. She picked it up and looked up to see Benji in the front of his house with a baseball mitt on.

“Hey.” he said, looking down.

“Hi.” she replied softly.

“Thanks.” he said as she threw the ball back to him.

“No Problem.” Emma kept walking as Benji just watched her go. Awkward feelings stood between them both.

She walked to the school and sat in one of the swings at the park. After awhile Stephen came up and sat in the swing next to her.

*a/n: they live an equal distance away from the school. I know I said that Emma lives far away from Stephen.. but yeah, they can both walk to the school in about 10 minutes.*

“I’m so sorry Emma.” he said to her, looking down at his feet. Emma didn’t respond so he went on, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to seem so rude today. It’s just, when my dad comes home drunk and takes all his anger out on me, I just need some way to vent my anger and I’m sorry that I took it out on you.” he grabbed her hand and she didn’t let go of it. They sat there in silence holding hands until Emma spoke up.

“It’s ok.” they looked at each other and smiled. Emma still didn’t know what to think of their little relationship, but Stephen seemed like he really was sorry so she forgave him.

(a/n: ugh! I hate this Stephen character…. Oooh well. And the drama.. I’m sorry it’s unbelievably ridiculous. It’s my sorry attempt at it! Well, keep reading and sign the guestbook! Thanks!)
