A customer
walked into the store and since TJ was the only unoccupied employee, he had to
help the girl.
She had
blonde hair down to her waist, blue eyes, sparkly eye shadow, and lipgloss on.
She had tight faded blue jeans on and a tight red Abercrombie shirt on with a
pooca shell necklace. She had on some red flip-flops and big silver loop
earrings. Her name was Beverly.
Beverly was
Emma’s least favorite person at school. She was in her homeroom class and was
considered one of the ‘popular’ kids. She was going out with the captain of the
football, baseball, and basketball teams at Sunrise Mountain High School, on
the freshman teams. His name was Jake.
While TJ
helped Beverly, Emma went to check out the beanies. She didn’t really need one
in Arizona, but she wanted one anyways. She eventually found a black beanie
that had red stars trimming the bottom of it. It was only $10.00 so she decided
to buy it. Since TJ was still busy with Beverly, Emma decided to look at the
skateboards.
When she
glanced up to see if TJ was done yet, she saw Beverly laughing flirtatiously
and batting her eyes at TJ.
“Oh my gosh,
stupid blonde!” Emma thought.
She couldn’t
stand to see this girl flirt with TJ any longer so she walked up to the counter
and cleared her throat loudly.
“Excuse me,
I’d like to buy this.” she said waving her beanie at TJ.
TJ smiled and
excused himself from Beverly as he walked up to the counter. Beverly gave Emma
a nasty glare and walked out of the store.
TJ and Emma
started cracking up.
“Dude, can
that girl talk or what!?” TJ said between laughs. “And, she was wearing a crap
load of perfume! I’ve got a headache now.”
“Awww.. poor
TJ. Yeah, I hate that girl. Anywhoo.. I really do want to buy this.” Emma said
holding up the beanie.
“Oh, right.”
TJ said, ringing up the beanie. “That’s $10.13 please.”
Emma handed
him the money and grabbed her bag.
“I wanna dye
my hair.” she said out of nowhere.
“Umm.. ok?”
TJ said with a confused look on his face.
“I don’t know
what color, but I wanna dye it.” Emma replied. “I’m sick of my hair. I want to
cut it too!”
“Well, we
could do that instead of going to a movie. I get off in five minutes. We can go
pick up Samantha and buy some dye! She good at cutting hair.”
“Umm.. I
don’t know if I trust a sophomore in High School to cut my hair! I don’t have
enough money to buy hair dye either.”
“Hmm... maybe
some other time then. Me and Sam could pick you up from school one day or
somethin’.” He said using his girlfriends nickname.
The trio (Emma, TJ, and Samantha) was always hanging out together when TJ wasn’t working. They were Emma’s only true friends. They would be the only part of Arizona that she’d miss.
