What's being subbed or edited, and how far it's gone
The Perils of Full-Time Jobs
The Good News: This past Tuesday, I managed to subtitle just over 13 minutes of footage. This is a marked improvement over the 7:30 minutes I subtitled the Tuesday prior. I have also retranslated the opening song with access to the kanji, provided by a kind person whose name I have not yet acquired permission to use. I have a mere two short scenes to finish before episode two is ready for distribution.

The Bad News: You'll notice the two bouts of subtitling referenced above were both on Tuesdays. My hopes of putting my spare time from other days into subtitling were dashed -- first by critical dictionary failure, then by the holiday shopping season finding me still in a retail job, and then by poverty-unto-starvation forcing me to take on emergency calculus tutoring. This Tuesday, however, if I can't make time Monday night, should see the release of episode two. It may be the only day I've been able to keep free, but it does contain approximately twelve hours of uncommitted time.

I hope I won't get so far behind that I can't catch up... if my Japanese keeps improving I should soon be able to do an entire episode or even more during my Tuesday fansubbing timeslot.

It is also my habit to burn episodes in groups of eight or so to regular DVDs, since I help run a local anime club and everyone I know prefers to watch the shows on the television instead of crowded around someone's computer. I'd be happy to post torrents for DVD .iso files if people are interested, in addition to ordinary file torrents or batch torrents. (The .iso files, if you haven't used them before, can be burned as TV-viewable DVDs. I would include instructions for this with the download).
