| First of all, putting your daughter in a pageant is something that a parent does for the development of their Childs character, self esteem, socialization skills and to gain a sense of accomplishment; much the same as putting them on a sports team or giving them dance lessons. You wouldnt ask your neighbor to pay for dance lessons, nor would you ask them for money to purchase a uniform, bat, ball or glove. This is something that you do for your child willingly. The pageant always has encouraged the parents of a competitor to seek support from within the family and save on their own to provide for the contestants needs. In 2007 we even gave the contestants a bank so they could begin saving for future pageants. The best sponsors are you, your family and friends. Contributions from relatives both in the Barstow area and out of town can add up to giving you a great deal of assistance with the entry fees.
If you need to look elsewhere, it is suggested that you start with businesses that you frequent and they recognize you as a loyal customer, and clubs of which you are a contributing member. Potential sponsors are willing to support you if you are supporting their business or club. The following is a suggestion for a potential sponsors letter in the Childrens divisions. |
| Dear Potential Sponsor:
My daughter is interested in entering this years Barstow Childrens Pageant and we are asking for your assistance. As a sponsor you will receive your name listed under her photograph in the Pageant Program, your name will be announced while she is on stage and should she win a title, I will make sure that your name is imprinted on her sash which she will be wearing at all community service activities which she will participate in throughout the year. As an added bonus, when the pageant is shown on the local TV channel during the holidays, your name will once again be announced. I believe that much of the problems we have with our young people today are because they lack self confidence self esteem and determination; these traits need to be developed at a young age. I feel that pageants are a way to teach children the importance of developing these strong characteristics and life skills and the significance of becoming involved in their community. The following is a list of some of the benefits of pageant competition: overcome shyness, build self esteem, increase self confidence, develop a positive self image, and gain a sense of accomplishment, to name a few. The Miss Barstow Pageant is a non-profit corporation and a proven community support organization that offers numerous opportunities for community service and character development. Also as part of their prize packages they offer Scholarship Savings Bonds for the children and College Scholarships for Miss Barstow competitors. Thank you for your kind consideration of this request. Sincerely, The following is a suggestion for a potential sponsors letter in the Teen & Miss divisions.
