"Fishers of Men" ~Ralph
Read and discuss
Luke 5:1-11.
·
Why do you think Jesus did this miracle? What did he want to
communicate about himself?
·
What did he want to communicate about his mission?
·
What was Peter’s first reaction to the miracle? Why do you think he
responded this way?
·
Jesus used this miracle to call people to be a fishers of souls. What
do you think he meant by that? What are our prospects for success in
this kind of fishing business?
·
What parallels do you see between fishing for fish and fishing for
people?
·
Peter, James, and John left everything to follow Jesus. Do you think
Jesus expects the same of his followers today?
·
What do people like us need to leave behind in order to join Jesus in
the “fishing business”?
·
What risks does such selling out to Christ entail?
Make a “fish
list” of those in your circles of influence who do not yet know
Christ. Challenge your students to pray daily for these people and to
be intentional in speaking for Christ and inviting them to church
events. Talk too about what other means may exist for “catching” these
souls.
