2008 Impact One Acts Prod Blog
Producer's blog for the 3rd Annual Impact Theater Winter One Act Festival.
August 22, 2007: Producing

i hate to admit it, but i get a little competitive when i read about other one act festivals. just been checking out the website for a festival going up soon and noticing that a) a number of playwrights that have submitted for the Winter One Acts are in the other festival, b) there are three directors i know working on the other festival, two of which worked on the 2007 Winter One Acts, and c) though i have less than a 1/4 of the resources and a much, MUCH less well-equipped theater, i really wanna blow the other festival outta the water!!!

... not that i don't like the other festival, seeing as how i designed lights for one of their weeks this past fall, but i just want to be the best (or at least fairly close to being just a bit better than them. heh.) ...

the one thing that i'm thinking of which would be a bit of a distinguisher (is that even proper English?!?!) is that i'm (somehow or other!) going to pay actors this year. that decision really has nothing to do with the other festival  and everything to do with the fact that that actors should be paid (heck, everyone involved should be paid, but my budget <aka my paycheck!>, can only go so far ...).

... just gotta figure out how much i can afford to pay them ... and what wouldn't be considered an insulting amount ...
