So how do you keep a 627 bhp, 2425 lb. car, which goes 240 mph and has no spoilers on the ground? McLaren applied some of it's Formula 1 experience and technology and designed the F1 with a wide opening at the bottom of the nose to
channel air under the chassis at high speed, creating a low pressure zone, and an upswept diffuser at the rear to dissipate the air. Two fans on either side of the car aid in drawing the air through and feeding it out the back. Also unique about the car is the "1-plus-2" driving position with the driver's seat in the middle of the car flanked on either side by a passenger's seat. Behind the passenger seats on either side of the car are luggage compartments of considerable capacity, considering this is a supercar, including matching hand-tailored luggage. Also, the interior is quite comfortable and luxurious, covered in Connolly leather and Alcantara suede with carbon fiber accents. Due to the car's central carbon fiber roof-air duct, the McLaren F1 has two rearview mirrors inside the car on either side of the interior as well as the two on the outside of the car.
