Why should we study hadis?
It is very clear in the Quraan,
"O you who believe! obey Allah and obey the Apostle and those in authority from among you; then if you quarrel about anything, refer it to Allah and the Apostle, if you believe in Allah and the last day; this is better and very good in the end. "(4:59)
If one observes in the above verses that we are asked to obey Allah & how can we do this???By following the Quraan
If one observes in the above verses that we are also asked to obey Allah's Apostle & how can we do this???By following the Hadis.
Some may argue that this verse was only meant for people to follow the Prophet(pbuh) directly but we should understand that it also talks about obeying Allah
Can we obey Allah directly??No,we refer to the Quraan.
However there are disputes about hadis being authentic or not but the above verse gives the solution,that in the end we should have faith.
The following are more verses to this effect:
"And whoever obeys Allah and the Apostle, these are with those upon whom Allah has bestowed favors from among the prophets and the truthful and the martyrs and the good, and a goodly company are they! "(4:69)
"Whoever obeys the Apostle, he indeed obeys Allah, and whoever turns back, so We have not sent you as a keeper over them. "(4:80)
"And obey Allah and obey the apostle and be cautious; but if you turn back, then know that only a clear deliverance of the message is (incumbent) on Our apostle. "(5:92)
"And obey Allah and His Messenger; and fall into no disputes, lest ye lose heart and your power depart; and be patient and persevering: For Allah is with those who patiently persevere: "(8:46)
"It is such as obey Allah and His Messenger, and fear Allah and do right, that will win (in the end), "(24:52)
""Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger: but if ye turn away, he is only responsible for the duty placed on him and ye for that placed on you. If ye obey him, ye shall be on right guidance. The Messenger's duty is only to preach the clear (Message). "(24:54)
"So establish regular Prayer and give regular Charity; and obey the Messenger; that ye may receive mercy. "(24:56)
"It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path. "(33:36)
"The Day that their faces will be turned upside down in the Fire, they will say: "Woe to us! Would that we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Messenger!" "(33:66)
"O ye who believe! Fear Allah, and (always) say a word directed to the Right:
That He may make your conduct whole and sound and forgive you your sins: He that obeys Allah and His Messenger, has already attained the highest achievement. "(33:70-71)
"O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the messenger, and make not vain your deeds! "(47:33)
