Ecc. 9:10a "What ever your hands find to do, do it with all your might." ICCM's Goal: To bring Christian media outlets into the mainstream, to rival national media outlets. ICCM's Plan of Action: A loose plan of action is posted on the forums under General Discussion as a reply. The foum is intended to expand on and discuss ideas and questions from these pages. ICCM's Why We Feel That This is Important: I know that there are Christian radio stations and newsleters and other publications but from what I have seen, as a whole, they are directed to a very narrow market and not widely available. What I beleive God has inspired me to do is to help bring the word of Jesus to a much larger and more diverse audiance than has traditionaly been seen. It is estimated that as much as 86% of our nation professes Christianity yet this is not reflected in our radio and televition staions, movies, or periodicals on a national scale. With God's blessings compounded with faith, prayers and perseverance we can have coast to coast radio stations that broadcast contemporary Christian music with live DJs and call in shows, not just satilite or prerecorded programs that are the norm anywhere I have been able to find broadcasts. Comic books and fiction magazines are popular to youths and adults alike but the only national publications of these that I have been able to find are secular such as Marval and DC comics. Beyond the realm of fiction there are intervew magizines that highlight those that are considered culteral icons and most Christians that are mentioned in national publications are being criticized for character flaws or portrayed as naive or bias or worse. The news programs are not any better in this regard, they are more likley to report on priests that molest young boys than priests desipling in the inercities and leading entire gangs to the Lord. There are cable broadcasts that share the message of Jesus but, at least in Las Vegas, whenever I turn them on they have an aging priest or nun giving a devotional. Don't misunderstant me, I know that there is a place and a time for this and I will never discourage anyone from sharing the Truth but this goes back to my earlier statement that this type of mass media has a very limited market that they are reaching as apposed to MTV which is reaching a much broader market and sharing a much diffrent message than truth of anykind. As a father and one who enjoys music, I would much prefere a music station that broadcasts music videos from Christian artists and brings praise to God and righteousness rather than to flesh and idolatry. Not to forget networks like ABC or UPN, it is posable to have a CBC (Christian Broadcasting Company) nationally feeding the word of Jesus to homes for free to the veiwers with advertising from local Christian businesses. Matthew 28:19 says to "go and make desiples of all nations" and in Luke 10:1-3 Jesus sent out the 72 "two by two ahead of Him to every town and place where he was about to go." Telling them "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into the harvest field. Go! We are the lambs of God but he has sent us a mighty shepard, Jesus Christ to whom we give praise and honor and glory, who is more that able to fight off the wolves of this world with His staff. We are still called to go ahead of Him into every town but now we do not have to knock on the door to enter a house and offer the enhabitants the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. |
