There are three ways in which a child will qualify as a dependant on his/her parents:

i. Under 19 years and unmarried at the time of applying for the visa;

ii. Full time student who is
     a. studying at a college, university or other education institution;
     b. studying or training at the time of applying for the visa and               when the visa is issued;
     c. under the financial support of parents from age 19 or from the         date of their marriage.

iii. A child with disability who is supported mainly by their parents, and unable to support him/herself because of the disability.
