Summary: Bor is
the city in Eastern Serbia where one of the largest European copper-mining
industrial complex is situated. Due to the recent decrease of copper percentage
in the ore, and also to the obsolete technology, the mining and industrial
complex and the city of Bor itself are in the state of hibernation, in
decade-long expectation for economical or political miracle to appear. What do
the workers of Bor think about their situation. How they relate to the issues
of property, transition, depth, employment. Is the existing terminology sufficient to describe and prescribe the
situations and solutions, or the new language and the new, prescriptive
interpretation should come to existence.
These were the questions that moved the
group of independent investigators to make this inquiry. Being introduced to
the methodology employed in the inquires by Sylvan Lazarus, the group gathered
audio recordings of interviews with 60 workers in Bor. The interviews,
transcripts and accompanying texts are presented on CD. The paper gives the
comment on the concept and content of the project and introduction for the
usage of data on the CD.
