“Heaven”, what a wonderful topic! Come, invite your friends and
family to hear thoughts on heaven and ask any questions you may

A WORD FROM WILLIE
“Thanks For Everything; Especially Your Love” I know that Immanuel Baptist Church has the most loving people of any Church I have had the pleasure of serving our Lord in. The other day Jan was speaking to someone from another church that heard that Immanuel was not a spiritual or a loving church. If I read my Bible right, and I think I do, the Word of God tells us in 1 John 7-8 “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” I think that Immanuel is a spiritual church because it is a loving church. Jan told that person that she had received the wrong information because the members of Immanuel have been the most loving church that we have ever seen. Being spiritual is not about speaking in tongues or having a contemporary worship service, it’s about LOVE! I have served in churches that have dynamic worship services where people raised their hands and clapped. It was nice, but those churches did not posses the spirit of love that Immanuel possesses. The scripture is clear that “If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal.” (1 Corinthians 13:1) If you are looking for a church that is filled with the spirit of God, look no farther than Immanuel, because at Immanuel you will find love. I want to take this time to thank all of you for your prayers, cards, and gifts for the ministers’ appreciation month. You showered me and my family with so much love we could hardly take it in. I also want to thank you for showering that love upon Zany, Gerald and their wives as well. It has been such a blessing to serve as your pastor for the past 3 ½ months. Even though I have only been here for a short time, I feel like I have known you all my life. Boy, it is great to be alive!
Also, I want to let you know that there is a very special event coming up
November 10 that I want you to attend and invite your friends and
family. Fred Overton, Jr. will be leading a seminar here at Immanuel
on “Heaven”. He will speak during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday School hour;
the 10:45 a.m. worship service; at another session at 5:00 p.m.; and
finish up the seminar at the 6:00 p.m. evening service. Please take
advantage of this opportunity. This seminar is sure to enlighten
each of us as we await that glorious day!! |
