A WORD FROM WILLIE

“Immanuel’s Deacons Truly Care”

Dear Immanuelites,

1 Timothy 3:13 says,  “For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

One of the reasons that I am so excited that the Lord has called me to be the pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church is because our deacons truly care.  They care about the spiritual health of believers.  They care about the physical health of the believers.  And, they care about the emotional health of the believers.

You may ask, “Brother Willie, how do you know that the deacons truly care?”  I am so glad you asked that question.  I know that the deacons truly care because our last deacons meeting was a blessing to the ears and eyes of this pastor.

When I sat down in the room where the deacons were meeting, I heard the most wonderful words come out of the deacons’ mouths.  They talked about how they could meet church members needs.  The talked about ministering to the homebound and shut-ins. They talked about reaching out to those in our nursing homes.  They talked about how to make our church members and visitors feel loved and welcome.  They talked about their deacon families and how they could be ministered to.  I want you to know something, friends, that is music to this pastor’s ears, and I know it is music to God’s ears.

I also want you to know that this Sunday evening we will be ordaining Bill Hall as a deacon.  This will be a special time for this church as we pray for Bill Hall, Tilly Thompson, and W.A. McLellan.  I hope that everyone comes this Sunday night for this beautiful service.

One of the reasons I am so excited to be at Immanuel is because the deacons truly care.

   Love in Christ,  Pastor Willie

P.S.  Don’t forget that on Sunday morning, September 1, we will have at the morning worship hour a special service of dedication for all of our workers, and the evening service will focus on State Missions Emphasis 2002.
