(*A/N: When I type present day, it really means early January-ish of 2002. So lets all pretend that we're back then now. AND! I can't remember what songs were all popular and stuff then, so if I by any chance type up a song or something, it's going to be something that is popular now, since I cant remember what was popular then. But, you can still pretend that it's 2002 with popular songs of today ... okay?! Okay! We're all good now? Good!*)

~Present Day~

Brianna quietly pulled the door shut, leaving it open a crack, just incase she cried. Walking down the hall to the living room, Brianna sat on the couch, grabbing the remote and turning on the television. Paying virtually no attention to whatever random late night talk show was on, she picked up a small black, sticker covered book that she used as a diary from the coffee table that she had set it on earlier that night. Opening it up, she began reading it from the very first entry, July 3rd, 1998, the day Brianna moved from Maryland to Arizona. She continued reading it most of the night, starting at 1:45am and finishing around 5:00am.

She read every major and minor detail of the last 3 ½ or so years, from moving to Arizona, getting and sharing an apartment with Emberlyn, starting college at Arizona State University, visiting Kaylei, Benji, Joel and everyone else in Good Charlotte in August of 1999, just as Good Charlotte was beginning to gain popularity in the East. She got to go on part of a mini-tour thing with them and Kaylei, who was still dating Benji, while she was visiting.

She reminisced about when, in early September, she learned that her whole life would soon be changed; she was pregnant. She had known exactly, without a doubt, who the father was - Joel. No one but her and her mother, whom she shared everything with, knew for sure who the dad was. When asked about it, she would just say, 'an ex-boyfriend.' She would say she didn't want to talk about it, and everyone would just drop the subject. To this day, Emberlyn still asks occasionally. But Brianna never told Emberlyn that she even knew the twins ... or anyone else in the band for that matter because Emberlyn was completely and utterly obsessed with Good Charlotte. You'd think a twenty-two year old woman would have grown out of the whole posters-on-the-wall, freak-out-when-you-see-them-on-television, listen-to-their-cd-everyday phase, but not Emberlyn, which is the reason Brianna still hadn't told her about her daughters father. She really didn't want to have to tell Emberlyn the whole entire story of Brianna's life with Benji and Joel and Paul and Billy, which she knew Emberlyn would make her tell.

She finished reading all the way up until the last entry she had written earlier that night. From behind her she heard Emberlyn's door open and her footsteps coming down the hallway. She appeared in a white tank top and pink pajama pants. Brianna shut the book and glanced at the clock. It read 5:04.

"Hey," Emberlyn greeted her groggily.

"Mornin' sunshine," Brianna answered her in a mock southern accent.

Emberlyn smiled, looked at the clock then back at Brianna. "What are you doing up so early?" she asked.

"Watching t.v. Mallory was being fussy last night, so I had to put her to bed, like, three times. Then I couldn't get back to sleep myself. What are you doing up?"

"Well, I have to work, unlike some people in this house."

"Hey pal, I work, okay?! Just not at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday mornings. But speaking of 5:00 on Saturday mornings, I'm going back to bed. Your still watching Mallory for me tonight, right?"

Brianna worked evenings at a restaurant until it closed, and then worked at another facility as a bartender. When Brianna had Mallory, her and Emberlyn devised a plan that Brianna would work nights so that she could spend the days with Mallory, and Emberlyn would work days so that she could babysit Mallory at night. During the week, they bother went to school on opposite days; Brianna on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Emberlyn on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays so that each girl could go to work and school and Brianna didn't have to spend money on a babysitter.

"Sure am!" Emberlyn responded.

"Sweet. See ya tonight then."

"Nighty-nite, darlin'." Emberlyn said in a mock southern accent, just as Brianna had done a few minutes before.
