"Alright, Lei. I'll call you tomorrow. Bye!" Brianna waved as Kaylei climed into her mom's car
after they got off work. As Kaylei's mom drove off, Brianna walked into the mall. After Kaylei
suggested to her that she should try being nice, Brianna began thinking about all the times in the
past where she had had a not so nice attitude with people who didn't really deserve it. She
somewhat liked enjoyed being the one that most people, exceot her family and close friends,
disliked, she really didn't know why she was about to what she was about to do.
Brianna walked into Lithium and looked around for Benji. Standing behind the register twirling
his keys around, she saw him ... or Joel; she didn't know which. So, she walked up towards him.
"Hey ... who are you?" she asked.
Joel/Benji looked at her and laughed. "You're so kind. I'm Joel."
"Ah, I see. You two need to find some way to look different or something."
"Nah. Most people can tell us apart."
"Well buddy, hate to burst your bubble, but I'm not most people."
"So I've noticed."
"I dont want to talk to you."
Joel faked looking hurt. "Geez, you're harsh."
Brianna smiled. "I didn't mean it like that. I mean, I need to talk to your brother."
"Hmm," Joel looked around the store and then thought for a moment. "dude! I dont know where
the little bastard went! Hold on, lemme check the back."
Brianna nodded and Joel told one of the other sales associates to watch the store. Brianna
meandered her way through the store, looking at the same clothes she had lookedat earlier, when
her and Kaylei were there during their break.
Joel poked his head out from a small door in the back of the store. "Hey ... chick who wants to
talk to my brother!" He didnt know how to refer to her, because he didn't know her name, but he
had to get her attention somehow.
"I prefer to go by Anna, thank you." she walked over to where he was.
"Well, how was I supposed to know that?" he said jokingly.
"Anyway, my brother's lazy ass doens't want to get up. So you'll have to come back here."
Brianna walked in, following Joel to a table where Benji was occupying himself with a magazine.
He looked up to see who Joel had brought in.
"Oh great. It's you." he said, turning his attention back to his magazine.
Brianna sighed and sat down across from him. Joel left the room to go tend to the story. "Look
buttwipe," she began, "I came here to be nice, but if you're just going to be jerk-ish, then forget
it."
"I dont think you're capable of being nice." Benji shot at her.
"As much as I want to say something to you for that, I'm not going to." Benji gasped, pretending
to be shocked. Brianna ignored him and just kept going. "Kaylei said something to me today that
kinda got me thinking. When I was saying all that crao about your name the other day, I was just
messin' around. I really didn't mean to come off as sounding like a nitch. And after I started
thinking about what Lei said, I kinda felt bad. I don't apologize to people very often, because ... I
dont know, that's just how I am, but for Lei's sake ... I'm sorry about the other day."
Benji looked at her for a moment. "Um ... okay." was all he said at first. "So, you just apologized
to me because Lei wanted you to?"
"And becuase I felt bad."
"Uh huh. I'm sure you did."
"No seroiously! I did."
"Riiight."
"Alright, that's enough of that. We'll shake hands and ... I dunno, start over, I guess you could
say?"
Benji thought for a moment. "Okay."
Brianna stuck her hand out. "I'm Anna."
"Benji." he said, shaking her hand. Brianna couldn't help but smile a little; his name really amused
her.
"That was lame!" Brianna exclaimed.
"Yeah it was!" Benji agreed, laughing with Brianna.
