Saturday night, Kaylei stayed over at Brianna's house so they could finish an assignment they had in English together. Around 9:00 PM, as they were just finishing up, Brianna's mom knocked on her bedroom door.

"Come in!" Brianna called.

Her mother, Stacey, opened the door and peeked in. She opened it a little further and handed an envelope to Brianna. "Here sweetie, this came in the mail for you today. I just baked a pie, do you girls want a slice?"

Brianna looked at Kaylei who nodded. "Sure mom. Thanks." she said, as her and Kaylei got up to go to the kitchen.

"No no. Sit back down. I'll bring you some." Stacey smiled sweetly and left the rom, gently closing the door behind her.

"Your mom is so nice." Kaylei commented.

"You say that all the time, Lei." Brianna said, looking at the envelope her mom had just handed her.

"But it's true! She's like the perfect movie kind of mother. She always has something baking in the oven, she always has a smile on her face, and she's just so sweet!" Kaylei explained. "So anyway ... who's the letter from?"

Brianna shrugged. "I dunno. I'll tell ya when I open it." Her mom came back in the room and placed two small plates in front of each girl, and then left again. "Oh! This is from my cousin in Arizona! Jenna! Did I ever tell you about her?" Brianna asked as she looked at a picture that had fallen out when she pulled the letter from the envelope. She handed the picture to Kaylei so she could see it.

"Oh, I remember her! I met her a few times before she moved. Dude! Who's that guy in the picture with her?! He's hot." Kaylei proclaimed.

Brianna laughed. "Guess you never met him. But yeah, um, look at the way their situated in the picture, Lei! Who do you think he could be?" Brianna took the picture back to look at it a second time. In it was a girl with short brown hair and blue eyes. She was laying on her stomach and her chin was rested on her hands. Sitting to the right of her with his arm obviously strategically placed on the other side of her, was a young man with short, spiked brown hair and green eyes. "That's Andrew, her boyfriend. He is really cute. They've been going out for frickin' ever. They moved out to Arizona together when she found out that she was accepted to ASU."

"What the hell is ASU?"

"Arizona State University." Brianna informed. "Now shoosh while I read this real quick."

Kaylei wrote the conclusion of their English essay while Brianna read the letter. After a few minutes of reading, she gasped in excitement. She ran out of the room, calling for her mother. While she was gone, Kaylei picked up the picture of Jenna and Andrew and looked at it some more.

"Duuuude!" Brianna screeched, skipping back into the room. "Guess what, Kaylei?!"

Kaylei looked up from the picture. "This guy is freakin' wicked mad hot, Anna! Anyway, um ... what?"

"I'm going down to Arizona to visit Jenna over Spring break! She invited me! Whoo!!" Brianna exclaimed happily.

"You're what?! Are you frickin' kidding me?! You're leaving me all alone for an entire week with Benji and Joel and Ryan and Chris and Steve and Paul?!" Kaylei jokingly whined.

"And Billy and Natalie and Amy and all the other people. What's so bad about that? Don't complain yet, it's only February 3rd! Spring break isn't till, like, the third week of March or something. So just chill!" Brianna stopped bouncing around. "Oh my gosh!" she said, "today is the 3rd!"

Kaylei looked at Brianna with a 'no shit' look on her face. "Not the brightest sky in the star, now are we?"

"My birthday is in 10 days! I'm gonna be 16. I'll finally get my license! Whoo!!"

"What's with you and the word 'whoo' tonight? Even when you get your license, what are you gonna drive?"

"I dunno. My mom's car. Maybe I'll convince Joel to let me drive his and Benji's car!" Brianna said, acting as if a lightbulb had gone off in her head.

"Oh lordy!" Kaylei said sarcastically.

"Screw you! I'm going on a plane in March and you're not. So ha! Oh! That reminds me. I've gotta call Joel and tell him! Whoo!"

Kaylei laughed as Brianna once again skipped out of her room, almost running smack into Jeremy on her way out. Not caring, she continued skipping merrily to the cordless phone in the living room.
