The next week and a half flew by for the four friends. It was winter break, so anytime anyone was bored, they'd all somehow end up hanging out together. Sometimes they would go to the twins' house, sometime they would gather at Kaylei's house, and sometimes they would flock to Brianna's house, sometimes elsewhere. But without fail, it was always the four of them and occasionally some of their friends.

Kaylei, as promised, did talk to Benji and their flirtatiousness led them to a 'relationship', and they were now considered a 'couple'. Brianna finally realized how much she really did like Joel, but never acted on her feelings,mainly because he was still hung up on the whole Patty ordeal, and Brianna unfortunately hadn't broken it off with Brandon yet, although they hadn't seen or talked to each other since that Monday of the last week of school.

Today, however, was New Years Eve. Brianna's parents had indeed left for Virginia the day after Christmas and allowed Jeremy and Brianna to occupy the house while they were away. Kaylei had come over earlier in the day, so as of right now, the two girls were lounging on the couch in Brianna's living room, snacking on Chicken In A Biscuit crackers, drinking a soda and watching a movie. It was about 5:45 pm when Jeremy waltzed into the living room, dressed nice and smelling good.

"Ooh la la, where's Jeremy going all spiffy looking?" Kaylei teased. The girls were such good friends that Jeremy was practically like Kaylei's brother, and vice versa with John and Brianna.

Jeremy grinned as he poured himself some apple juice. "A date with my girlfriend. And then a party."

The girls laughed. "Jeremy's gonna get some tonight! You're gonna get laid, arentcha?! 'Jeremy and his girlfriend, sitting in a tree. Off to a party where thier gonna be k-i-s-s-i-n-g! First comes .... something? Then comes sex! ... then comes ...." Brianna sang, slightly altering the song. She stopped because she didnt know how she was going to change the ending of the song. Kaylei laughed as Jeremy looked at his younger sister dumbfounded.

"Shut up!" he said. "What are you two up to tonight? Sitting on couches wishing you had parties to go to? Losers!" Jeremy laughed and pointed, making fun of Brianna and Kaylei.

Brianna looked at Jeremy as if he was a crazy naked baboon dancing on a rooftop. (*A/N: dont ask ... I just wanted to use the word baboon! It's quite a funny word if you ask me!*) "No. Well ... yes."

The phone rang and Jeremy went to answer it. He tossed the phone at Brianna after saying hello. "It's your boyfriend." he said. The smile on Brianna's fell to a frown. "Not Brandon." Jeremy noted.

Brianna brought the phone to her ear. "Hello?"

"What be up mah homie g!?" It was Benji.

"Whyyyy are you talking like that?" Brianna held out the 'y' sound.

Benji laughed. "Eh, I dunno. What are you doing?"

"Lei and I were watching a movie. Then we were making fun of my brother cuz he's gonna get laid tonight."

"Anna! Don't be telling people that!" Jeremy yelled from the bathroom where he was double checking the way he looked.

Brianna laughed. "Anyway! So whats up with you?"

"Nothing." Benji answered. "I called Lei, but her mom told me she was at your house, Joel's lazy ass is sleeping. He's snoring and its funny. So my sister and I got a good laugh out of drawing on his face with a marker. It's quite entertaining, lemme tell ya! But I got bored of that after ahile, so I called you."

"Oh, I see. So I'm like your last resort. You only call me when you've done everything else and you have nothing better to do."

"Nuh uh!" Benji said, defending himself.

"Okay, yeah. I believe you."

"You do not!"

"Shut up, so what?! Tell ya what ... when Joel wakes up, why dont you guys come over and hang out. Bring some friends and Lei and I will invite some of our friends and we'll have a little New Years shindig at my house since my brother'll be out." Brianna offered as Jeremy left the house and Kaylei jokingly wished him good luck in getting some.

(Back to the phone call) "You mean like a big orgy?" Benji asked a little too excitedly.

"Ew. Not quite what I had in mind, buddy ol' pal."

"Fine! But until Joel wakes up, I'm gonna talk to you."

"What if I dont want to talk to you?" Brianna playfully questioned.

"Then I'd say give the phone to Lei so I can talk to her."

"And what if I said she turned into a lesbian and ran next door to Patty, who miraculously also turned into a lesbian, and they went and frolicked through a field of rainbow colored daisies and sunflowers together?"

"I'd ask you where the fuck a field of rainbow colored daisies and sunflowers is in Maryland. And then I'd wonder why she ran off with Patty of all people, when there are so many other hot girls around!"

Brianna laughed. The two continued their nonsense conversation about nothing in particular for about a half an hour, when Brianna heard in the background the sound of a very pissed off Joel storming through the house looking for Benji. Benji, meanwhile, was trying his best to hide from the wrath of Joel while still talking on the phone. Benji's luck ran out when Joel found him huddled in the back of the pantry. Brianna put them on speakerphone so that Kaylei could hear the commotion between the brothers as well.

"Benji! What the hell are you thinking?!" Joel yelled.

"It was Sarah! I swear!!" Benji tried putting the blame on their thirteen year old sister.

"Sarah would not color on my face!"

"Are you sure about that, oh angry brother of mine?" Benji asked, just to be an ass cuz he knew Joel would get mad. Kaylei and Brianna laughed at this comment, which reminded Benji that he was still on the phone. He lifted the reciever up to Joel. "Here. Say hello to Anna."

Joel looked at Benji. "Fuck you, Benji." he growled, turning on his heel and walking away.

"Well!" Benji said into the phone, "that was interesting!"

"Yeah it was!" Kaylei agreed, since the girls still had not taken Benji off of speakerphone, "come over when you calm the beast down!"

"Beast? HA! He'd love it if he knew you called him that." Benji said sarcastically. "He's been a dick to everyone since Patty broke up with him. And I'm sure that what I did today didn't help much, but it was just so tempting!" he said, pausing. "Whatever. I dont know. I'll see you guys later."

"Alright." Brianna said.

"Okay."

"Kay."

"Alright."

"Okay! Sheesh." Kaylei cut in on the okay-ing. "Goodbye Benji. I'll see you later." she hung up the phone.

"What a way to treat your boyfriend! Hang up on the poor guy, and he didnt even do anything wrong!"

"Meh. Shut up. I'll see him later, and I'll make up for for it then." Kaylei said, plopping on the sofa with a grin on her face to finish watching the movie until the twins arrived.

*A/N: I do not have anything against lesbians. One of my old best friends was a lesbian. I dont want anyone to get offended by what I made Benji say abou lesbians, so if I did by any chance offend anyone, I'm sorry; it wasnt intentional.*
