*A/N: Okay, I know that 'Drumline' and 'The Hot Chick' came out this year and not in '95 when Joel and Benji were 16, but oh well. In my story, those movies did come out in 1995. So ha!*

~*~*~*~

Friday night, Kaylei called Brianna and three-wayed the twins, who each picked up a phone extension in their home so that all four of them could talk. Brianna didn't tell anyone about what had ahappened earlier that week, and she inteneded to keep it quiet. The four of them talked for awhile, when Kaylei's mom told her she needed the phone, and wanted it in five minutes. This gave them enough time to devise a plan to go see that free movie that Kaylei and Brianna had promised Benji and Joel the next day.

So, Saturday came and Brianna's brother gave her and Kaylei a ride to the theater where they were to meet Benji and Joel. As soon as the boys approached after parking their car, Kaylei ran up to Benji and tightly squeezed him in a hug. Joel and Brianna looked at each other, confused. They shrugged it off anf waited until the other two were ready to go to the box office to see what was playing.

They stood looking at the sign thing that says what movies were playing at what time (haha, I work at a theater and I don't even know what it's called!), and remained indecisive.

"Drumline looks like it would be interesting." Benji pondered out loud.

"Drumline looks dumb. But ya know whats really really good?" Kaylei said.

"The Hot Chick?!" Brianna guessed.

"Yeah! Can we go see that? Pleeease?!" Kaylei turned and begged Benji, who gave Joel a 'its-up-to-you' kind of look.

Joel shrugged. "I'll see that."

Benji nodded. "Okay." Kaylei sqealed with delight. Her and Brianna had seen that movie about six times already and were definately ready to see it a seventh.

They went to the next available box office cashier and successfully got four free tickets to see 'The Hot Chick'.

Kaylei dispersed the four tickets to each person and headed towards the inside of the theater, grasping Benji's hand.

Brianna tagged along behind with Joel. He hadn't said much since him and his brother arrived, and Brianna wondered what was wrong with him, although she had a feeling she knew.

"What's wrong?" Brianna asked him, concerned.

"Nothing." Joel replied, kicking a nearby pebble.

Brianna looked his way, not believing him. "You're still upset about Patty, aren't you?"

"Yeah," he sighed, "I dont know why, but I just really really liked her a lot."

"I don't know why either." Brianna huffed. Joel gave her an uneasy glance. "I'm sorry, that didn't help at all." Joel stayed silent. "Look, just try and forget about her. I know its hard, but she was in the past and theres nothing you can do now."

"Yeah, I know." Joel said, as he and Brianna caught up with Benji and Kaylei.

They all stood in the lobby, deciding what they wanted to eat.

"Hmm ..." Benji hummed, rubbing his chin and acting as if he was in deep thought staring at the menu boards. "I want one of everything!" he concluded.

"Whoa, Benj! No wonder your fat." Brianna joked.

"Hey! That was mean!" Benji crossed his arms over his chest and Brianna snickered.

They decided on getting four small drinks a popcorn to share.

They were walking down the hallway to the theater they were supposed to go to, when they came upon two heavier ladies who were walking in front of them. Once the ladies got into their appropriate theater, Benji broke out into song. "'I like big butts and I cannot lie ... you other brothers can't deny ... when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist and a round thing in your face you get sprung!'" (*a/n: I'm not sure if I got all the lyrics right, so sorry if I didn't*)

Everyone laughed and chuckled as Kaylei looked back and made no attempt to hide the fact that she was checking out Benji's butt. "I dont know if you're one to be singing that!"

They walked into the theater and stood to the side, looking for seats. "What is this? 'Pick on Benji's fat' day?" Benji asked, jokingly looking hurt.

They chose where they wanted to sit and got comfortable. Benji had lifted the arm rest between him and Kaylei and put his arm around her shoulders, and she snuggled up beside him.

Joel looked over at the two and sighed. (Haha, he sighs a lot!) Brianna took his hand into hers and gave it a reassuring sqeeze.

Halfway into the movie, everyone was ready for a refill on their drinks, so Kaylei and Brianna offered to go get them, since they had already seen the movie and they were the only ones who could get refills on small drinks anyway.

Walking down the hallway back to the concession stand, Brianna let curiosity get the best of her.

"Hey, Lei," Brianna said thoughtfully as they walked, "whats with you and Benj? You two seem pretty snug together there in the theater. And you practically jumped on the poor dude when you saw him walk up! And then you guys are walking around holding hands and acting couple-ish and whatnot. It's cute!"

Kaylei smiled bashfully. "I dunno whats up with us. I mean, we flirt and stuff, but I kinda want an, I dunno, real relationship with him. Well, as 'real' as a high school relationship can get. Eh, I dont know what I'm talking about anymore!"

"Well," Brianna laughed, just realizing that she thought Kaylei's last comment was funny, "are you sure he wants a relationship too?"

"No. I guess I'll have to talk to him about that, wont I?"

Brianna shrugged. "Guess so."

After the movie, the four kids went outside and just hung out. After awhile, Benji mathioned that him and Joel needed to be getting home soon. They decided to leave then, and Kaylei gave Benji a hug, and stole a little kiss from him too, and Brianna hugged Joel. While doing so, the back of her black zip-up hoodie lifted a bit, revealing a purple-bluesh bruise that had formed where Brandon had thrown her against the counter.

"What's that from, Anna?" Kaylei asked, pointing to the spot.

Brianna hesitated to answer, but pulled her sweater down a little. "Its ... nothing. Jjust a bruise. Why?"

Kaylei looked at her and Brianna could tell that Kaylei saw right through that lie. The guys finally left, and Kaylei called John to pick them up since Jeremy had brought them there. As they waited, Kaylei demanded that Brianna teall her. "Where did you get that damn bruise, Anna? Why wont you tell me?"

Brianna fiddled with one of the strings on her sweater as her and Kaylei sat down on a bench to wait for Kaylei's brother. "If I tell you, you have to promise not to tell anyone."

"I wont."

"Lei, I'm serious. Please dont."

"I wont!" Kaylei protested, getting a little angry with Brianna. "Do you not trust me?"

"No! It's not that. I just .... I dont know." Brianna took a deep breath. "I got the bruise from Brandon."

Kaylei gasped. "Are you serious?"

"Yeah. On Monday he was pissed because he saw us hanging out with Joel and Benji. He had told me once before that he didn't want me talking to them, remember? I told you." Kaylei nodded and Brianna continued. "Well, he was mad that I 'disobeyed' him, so we went to my house and he pushed me into the side of the counter."

Kaylei remained silent for a minute. "That asshole! You're still going out with him, arent you? You better not be, Anna!" Brianna didnt say anything, but looked back down at the string on her sweater. "You are." Kaylei said, stating the obvious. "Why?! Why are you still with him, Anna?! You dont need that. You deserve someone so much better than him!" she exclaimed.

Brianna looked up at her. "Like who?" she asked with an attitude.

Kaylei paused for a moment or two before answering the question. "Like Joel."
