Bloomers/Spankies/whatever: I used an actual pair of bloomers from when I was in high school, then altered them until they matched her high-cut, low-rise bikini style and used this as the pattern for the purple stretch fabric. I screwed up a couple times, but it worked out nicely in the end. The hardest part was keeping the front in that V shape.
Boots: Purple bias tape on the top. Bought base shoes that were comfortable and had the right heel shape. In future, I'd like to build up the toes into that pointed shape as well, but at the time I didn't think of it and had no reliable shoe glue. These were painted light pink and the bootcovers were attached over top of them so that they actually are built like thigh-high boots. The designs were outlined in a slightly darker metallic blue-grey while they were filled in with a glittery pale blue colour. I took the designs from the artbook and sketched them out in my sketchbook until I was satisfied, then made a grid and scaled it up to the correct measurements for my size.
Gloves, anklets, hairpieces: Gloves are elbow-length, so I rolled them down. They're unfortunately shiny, but thus far my attempts to make my own have failed miserably, so these were bought. The hair pieces are made from layers of stiff felt and the pink designs are beaded onto both sides of both hair pieces. I chose to go with the game version (white octagons with a pink square with a white diamond in the middle) for the disks and the artwork version of the sticks they were mounted on (as in curved at both ends, instead of straight). The anklets seem silver in some pictures and gold in others, so I made them an intermediate. I used wire to construct a frame, used masking tape to strengthen the frame and then used metal tape from the hardware store to coat them. They're held closed with the same tape on the inside. I used a gold metal paint to dust the outside to create that intermediate colour.
Fan: The fan has a copper wire frame so that it can both hold its closed position and its open position. Three different colours of fabric were used and the in-game version of the fan was used. Two different types of fabric paint were also used. I used a stencil to make each of the light blue-purple designs on the outside of the fan identical to each other. I couldn't find grey bias-tape so I used red instead. The most difficult part was making those "teeth" shapes just out, since it meant I had to make each of the blades separately rather than just folding over one single piece in an accordian manner.
Other: The heart-shape tattoo was created using lipstick. It turned out a lot better at CNAnime than at Worldcon. For the rest of my make-up, I used a bright pink lipstick and a mix of purple and silver eyeshadow. I would have painted my nails, but what would've been the point? ^_^ The wig was bought off eBay and Winnie (Hekikuu-chan) styled it. |
