-The Evil Dead-

Five friends go to a cabin in the woods for a vacation. They discover The Book of the Dead and a tape recorder that once belonged to a professor. They play back what is
recorded on the tape-- which just happens to be Candarian resurrection passages translated from to Necronomicon (Book of the Dead). The passages unleash an Evil
force from the woods. People start turning into deadites, and they soon learn from the tape that the only way to kill a deadite is by total body dismemberment. Death
comes painful to the vacationers, and Ash ends up as the only one alive. The film ends with the Evil rushing into a terrified Ash.

This film is a straight bloody horror movie.

-The Evil Dead II-

Note:
These first few minutes are an almost unrecognizable remake of the first movie (creators couldn't get the rights to the first film). This time only Ash and his girlfriend
visit the cabin. The tape recorder gets played, bringing the Evil and turning the girlfriend into a deadite. Ash is forced to kill her by chopping off her head with a shovel.
Ash is alone and we see the Evil rush into him at full speed. That ends the quick and very different remake, then the sequel begins.

Ash is thrown into the woods by the evil rushing into him, which also causes him to turn into a deadite. Dawn saves Ash's soul turning him back into human. Ash tries
to leave the woods, but the bridge is completely destroyed. So he is forced to go back to the cabin for the evening. That night the dead girlfriend climbs out of her grave
and attacks Ash. Her severed head bites Ash's hand, infecting it with the Evil. Ash manages to chop his hand off with an ax before the Evil spreads. Later, the
professors daughter shows up with three other people: her boyfriend, and the two locals that showed her the backwoods foot path to the cabin. Death and carnage
ensues. The Professor's daughter manages to open a vortex by translating a spell out of the Book of the Dead. Ash is able to send the Evil into the vortex, but gets
sucked into it himself. Ash, and his car end up in medieval Europe, surrounded by knights.

This film has a good dose of dark humor thrown into the horror.

-Army of Darkness-

This third installment in the Evil Dead series picks up with Ash as a captive regaling us with his unbelievable story (ED2). Ash is taken prisoner, mistaken for one of
Duke Henry's men. Who, along with others is also taken captive by King Arthur. The prisoners are to be thrown into a pit which contains deadites. The first prisoner
lasts but a few seconds before having his blood sprayed all over. Ash is next in the pit, but he stands his ground against the Evil and crawls out of the pit. This heroic
feat gains Ash some respect. Our Hero then goes on a quest to find the Book of the Dead, because it is the only thing that will get him back home to his own time. In his
quest Ash unleashes the Army of Darkness with his bumbling ways. Ash and King Arthur's army fight against the Army of Darkness, and in the end are victorious. The
Screen fades back to S-Mart with an evil demon showing up wanting to eat Ash's soul, he makes quick work of this demon, and Army of Darkness ends.

Note:
The original ending had Ash swallowing 6 drops of a sleeping potion, while sealed in a cave with his car. Ash miscounts and swallows one drop too many. When he
awakes and breaks free of his cave he finds a decimated Europe and yells out in agony.

This movie is more of a dark comedy with horror, than a straight horror film.
