Try and Try Again
What:    "Try and Try Again"

Why:       Learning comes in many forms.
Research suggests that we learn from
               unsuccessful performances (doing it
right the first time does not produce
much new learning).    Fine tuning of a
skill comes from doing something over
               and over (with specific feedback).
Often times, a breakthrough is just
               around the corner.

How:       While keeping feedback high, provide
sufficient time for students to learn.

We spent spring break at Big Bear.  Max (at 39
months old!) had his first ski lessons.  After a
lesson one day, his instructor recommended that
we purchase another lesson on the spot
because Max was on the verge of "getting it".  Of
course our first thought was that the instructor
was just trying to make some more money, but
we took the chance.  It turns out that in the next
hour, Max was skiing solo and
SO PROUD of
himself!!!
