| What: "Novel Input" Why: Novel input is what makes the brain reorganize and reallocate nerve cells to other areas, and stimulates better neural connections. The idea is to have the brain reassign cells so it will be better at a task the next time it is attempted. Purposeful multi-sensory stimulation is one way to achieve this. How: There are many ways to accomplish "purposeful multi-sensory stimulation," but one way is to have students trace strange or foreign objects. We really enjoy playing with sidewalk chalk. We have been known to lay down in the driveway and trace our whole bodies! |
