| What: "The Value of Chaos" Why: The brain is not designed to work in an environment of constant equilibrium. Learning only occurs during impasses and emerges from confusion. States of anticipation, excitement, uncertainty, challenge, suspense, and release are the emotions that enhance attention, meaning and memory. How: Use more learner-generated role- plays, theater, and drama. Sometimes (when we want to play inside) we get out our Play-Doh and make up stories. It is fun to make "spaghetti' with play-doh, and we have animal-shaped cutouts. On this day, Max made a dolphin who loved to eat spaghetti. He had a fun time telling me all about it... |
