Gordian Knot
What:    "Gordian Knot"

Why:       It is always a good idea to mix the
               intellectual with the physical.
Sometimes all we need to do is blow
off some steam, and energize a
               working group with an activity.

How:      This is recommended for 6-8 people,
but I rounded up 4 to try this for me.
They stand in a circle facing each
               other.  Each person reaches across
the circle and clasps hands with
              another person at random.  The
challenge is then to untie the
              "Gordian Knot" that results (defined
              as "an intricate problem").

This looked like so much fun, I joined in a
couple of knots myself.  I think this would be
an excellent way to release some tension
during a tedious lecture.
