The Death of imagination |
||||||||
I remeber stories from my childhood, Stories about giants, dragons, fairies, and elves. I remember seeing them alive in my dreams, everything seemed so real in my fantasies. What happened to all those good stories? I can't find them anymore, everything's become so modernized. Has everyone forgotten how to fantasize?? I looked at a child's story book the other day, it was about a washing machine that broke. The imagination was lost all for a moral joke. The moral; don't break things that don't belong to you.... as if that could not be taught with more creativity. No wonder children have become destructive, there is no imagination to distract them. They have a TV for a babysitter and books about appliances. No fun, no games, no unseen alliances. These days if a child has an imaginary friend he needs counseling or is crazy. If they make up a story it's a lie. An imagination is considered a bad thing... be a good little automaton. Daydreaming is out..."God forbid you should". So do what's right for your child, Throwout the lame stories, turn off the boob tube, grab your kid, find a comfy spot, use your imagination, make your own story up and add some morals. Teach your kids the right way spend time with them. |
