The EC Comic Books |
These are the comic books that most of the episodes of Tales from the Crypt, the original 70s "Crypt" movies, the cartoons and the audio series are based on. These comics ran from 1950 - 1954 until they were banned by the government for being too violent and graphic. Anyone who has seen them knows that they are tame compared to today's standards! Each story was introduced by the Cryptkeeper or his best fiends the Vault Keeper and the Old Witch! |
Below are some good books on EC Comics! |
I have included the titles of the stories that appear in each comic. If you are wondering which comic your favorite episode of the HBO tv series appeared in, you should be able to find it here. The color RED means that the story was adapted for the HBO series. The color BLUE means that the story was adapted for the children's animated series. The color ORANGE means that the story was adapted for one of the 1970s movies. The color PURPLE means that the story was adapted for the Scifi.com's audio series. If the title appears more than once, and in more than one different color, that means it was adapted for more than one of the above series/movies. If the numbering of the comics seems odd, it's because the titles originally began as something different (for example the first edition of Vault of Horror is actually issue #12 because prior to being The Vault of Horror, it was a different comic called War Against Crime! Some stories appeared in more than one issue, so if you find doubles, that is why! * = See page bottom. |
