IMA October Newsletter
Dear Stephanie,

Welcome!

Our first meeting on October 15 is a student night at the RIT Inn and Conference Center, which is an extremely important outreach for the local chapter.   I would encourage members to come and share your experiences. This is an excellent opportunity to be a mentor, and allow others to learn from what worked right and what were the "bumps in the road".  For details and to RSVP, visit the imarochester.org website or call the reservation line at 585.251.5194.  Deadline to RSVP is this Friday, October 10.

The IMA recently participated in career fairs at RIT, St. John Fisher and SUNY Brockport.  All three schools enjoyed excellent turnout and the students were very impressive.  We are hopeful that the individuals we talked to will now consider the IMA and CMA as options as they develop their career strategies.  Thanks to Roberta Klein and Marcia O'Brien for coordinating participation in these events, as well as Toni Spina and Stephanie Quattrone for joining them in representing the chapter at our booths.

Yearbooks are in the mail!  Please support our generous sponsors who made the yearbooks possible.  In addition, I would extend sincere appreciation to Susan Glenz and Tate Russell for such a dedicated effort to get the yearbooks out the door.

At this point, we are up to 25 LinkedIn members!

Best regards,

David Alkins

Interviewing Tips and Tricks!

This month's tips focus on Being Prepared for an interview.

-Give yourself plenty of time to get there.
-Ask about parking availability before you go.
-Know the exact place and time of the meeting, the interviewer's full name (including correct pronunciation) and his or her title.
-Research the company through the Internet or the library to learn relevant facts such as annual sales revenue, principal lines of business and locations.
-Look your professional best. Wear business attire in neutral colors and be conservative in your use of fragrance, cosmetics and jewelry.
-Organize the night before. Your interview clothing, briefcase and portfolio should all be prepared.
-Get a good night's rest.
