November 2008 IMA Newsletter
Dear Stephanie,

Our first meeting on October 15 was a great success! The student night at the RIT Inn and Conference Center focused on business etiquette and was presented by Maria Richart, Program Advisor in the Office of Co-op and Career Services at RIT.  Special thanks go to Maria and all of the IMA Board members who made this event possible.
IMA Board Member Nick Sudano coordinated a plant tour at Gleason on November 6, with the primary focus being to introduce local students to a manufacturing environment.  Robert DiPasquale and Jack Pysnack were gracious hosts who gave an excellent presentation of the company's history, industry and financial practices, followed by a plant tour.  The IMA is very excited and appreciative to have had this opportunity.  Please let us know if you know of a company that would open up its doors for us in a similar manner, as we would like to arrange for another tour Q1 or Q2 2009.
The IMA's next event is our annual Tax Update presented by Toni Spina, next Tuesday November 18 at the Pittsford Town Library.  This event is always well-received by participants, and I would encourage members to attend.  If you cannot make it, please forward the newsletter to professionals you know who work in corporate tax functions.  This would be a great way to introduce them to the organization.   For details and to RSVP, visit the imarochester.org website or call the reservation line at 585.251.5194.  Deadline to RSVP is this MONDAY NOVEMBER 17.
I am hopeful everyone received his or her yearbook.  If not, please contact us.   Please support our generous sponsors who made the yearbooks possible.  In addition, I would extend sincere appreciation to Susan Glenz and Tate Russell for such a dedicated effort to get the yearbooks out the door.
At this point, we are up to 37 LinkedIn members!  Start a discussion, ask a question, or get connected in some other way with your fellow IMA members.  It is just as important to network when you are in a solid position, as when you "need" to network.  Ideally, your network should be in place before you are in the job market.

Best regards,

David Alkins
