NETWORK TOPOLOGY

NETWORK TOPOLOGY REFERS TO THE LAYOUT OF THE COMPUTER AND DEVICES , COMPUTER OTHER PERIPHERALS


physical topology
-The configuration of cables, computers,and other peripherals.
-The arrangement of a cabling on a network
LOGICAL TOPOLOGY
-
The path that data travel between computerids
-.How signal travels along the physical path.

TYPES OF NETWORK TOPOLOGY



A bus network consist of a single central cable /(backbone/trunk) to which all computers and other devices connect (node)

ADVANTAGES OF BUS TOPOLOGY

1)Failure is is one device usually does not effect the rest of the fas.
Bus network are inexpensibe computrrs
2)Computer and other devices can be attached and detached any point on the bus without disturbing the rest of the network.

DISADVANTAGES OF BUS TOPOLOGY

1)The network will be malfuntioned if the single central cable breaks down.
2)A break in the backbone (single central cable)will prevent aa systems from accessing  the network








































A cable forms a closed loop(ring) with all computers and devices arranged along the ring.


ADVANTAGES OF RING NETWORK TOPOLOGY

1)All computers have equals access to the resources in the network.
2)The uses of token passing enable all devices in a ring topology to share the network resources fairly.



DISADVANTAGES OF RING NETWORK TOPOLOGY

1)The network will be malfunctioned if the device (pc/device) breaks down.
2)A ring network can span a larger distance than a bus network but it is more difficult to install

































All the computers and other devices on the network connect to a central device (hub/switch), thus forming a star.


ADVANTAGES OF STAR NETWORK TOPOLOGY

1)
If one device(pc/printer) fails, only that device is affected.
2)Devices(pc/printer) can be added to or removed from network with little or no disruption.

DISADVANTAGES OF STAR NETWORK TOPOLOGY

1)The network will be malfunctioned if the hub or switch break down.
2)Requires more cable than most of the other topologies.
